I told my coworkers. They are surprisingly supportive and positive. I was expecting negativity. One told me she is interested in doing so. WOW!!!

It is absolutely amazing isn't it? I felt so good after I told everyone. I got tons of support and well wishes. I expected people to be rude I guess. But the've all been great! And it made me feel super empowered and like I was owning my journey. You know what I mean?

I did not tell everyone, just the few close people I work with, my family and a few BFF's. I got total support from everyone, all said congrats and good luck on your journey - it was a nice feeling :)

We are overseas stationed in England hubby's military. I have only told a few friends back in the states and my parents. I told my boss and a few friends here as well some of my English coworkers were a bit crappy, but there jerks anyway. I haven't posted it full on but I bet I'd feel better if I did. I did run into a woman a few weeks ago that I started the process with and she was really rude she started out wow you look great then it was I decided not to have that surgery cause I love my family and don't want to die. She went on to tell me I can't take meds and if I get sick I could die. It took all I had to be professional we were at the school. I smiled and softly said I think you might have your information confused but this isn't for everyone and left it at that but boy I was fuming inside.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
