Hi Carol. Sorry about that, I am easily confused...lack of calories! I worried about the first fill more than I needed to. It didn't hurt at all. It gave me restriction, but I still need will power. I am so thankful to have this band. I will probably get another fill in a month or 6 weeks. I am feeling really healthy and I love that!

By the way, you are very funny, made me laugh out loud! My hubby thinks I am crazy....

No Worries! I can sooo relate to the lack of calories ditziness. Man, if I wasn't already a blonde I'd make a joke......

I agree I am thrilled with the possiblities that are presented by using this band as my way in to a healthier life. I've been working a lot on the mental game. Already caught myself once just going to the fridge cuz I was bored...ahhhhhhh... At least now I have something that helps me from acting on old bad habits. Day at a time...that's all we can do.

Never more than the 23rd did the saying 'today is the first day of the rest of your life' mean more to me. I was banded in San Antonio by Dr. Carcamo. Everyone was great at the Nix and the day went smoothly. I've had very little pain at all. Now that i'm a full three days out the pressure has subsided and just the incisions are bugging me some. I'm on Clear liquids for a week and then the slider stuff starts. It's fascinating reading the different posts and seeing how others have different instructions for the phases. I am looking forward to the change in my life! I thought last year was a big one when I got my Harley. This year's addition (my band) will only help to make that lifestyle more fun. :clap2: Thanks to everyone who shares on these sites. The more I read the better informed I become and it helps to keep me focused on my own success.

Congratulations on your new band and your new journey!! Welcome to the board.

Well, that was a fast four weeks. If there's anyone sitting on the fence about this decision, come on over. It's been one of the best things that's happened to me in my life. Like others have expressed before me I can't believe I waited this long to make it happen.

I had my one month appt today. I'm down 15 pounds since I was banded. Yea! That makes 32 with the pre-surgery dieting. And it's been an easy journey for me so far. I had the first fill today. I aired on the cautious side today and kept it light based on what I've read here in the forums. But so far, no issues and tomorrow I'll try to get back to my diet from the past week. Trying 'new' foods and hopefully will continue without issues.

I'm looking forward to continuing on down the scale. Not going to try and rush it, just want to succeed. I can truly say to myself what I've said to others 'I believe in you Tinkerbell' ...yeah, I know my name's not Tinkerbell...lol But to finally believe that this long journey can at last end in successful weight loss is the best thing ever. Well, next to my Daughter, Granddaughter and my Harley of course!

Continued best wishes to all of us for success! :)

Hi there....I'm being banded by DR. Carcamo this month. Could you tell me more about your surgery day in detail? I'm very interested. I've read some posts where they said that were in 7am out by noon. Was this the case for you? All the info you could give me would be GREATLY appreciated. I'm excited, but nervous as I haven't had surgery since I was a kid.

Thanks a lot!!!

Hi Christy,

Surgery was really quite easy I thought. Carcamo and his staff are great! I did get there first thing in the morning and was out of the door by noonish. Toughest part was waking up with that usual after surgery grogginess but just relax. Remember it's all for a good cause and it doesn't last. The port pain for me was the longest to deal with. Just really tender and couldn't sleep on that side for a few weesk. But then, like everything, one day it was gone and no recollection of it afterwards.

Just follow the instructions. Get all of your stuff pre-surgery so you don't have to hunt it down afterwards. I took off 7 days I think only because I wanted to get through some of my mushy phase before I went to work. I was never hungry, just a little light headed because of the lack of calories but that's normal. Remember though, everyone is different so my experience may be different than yours. But also remember that Dr. Carcamo is one of the best and his people are too. Also remember you're doing it for you and for your future.

Best of luck to you!

Carol :cool2:

Saw my PCP & officially started my 6 month supervised diet 07/26/24. She just told me to eat less carbs & sugar, use the air fryer and not fry my foods in grease, and to try to walk 30 minutes 3 days a week & if I can't do that (and I cannot), to walk 10 minutes daily. Told me to walk fast enough that my heart rate is raised.  She didn't give me a number as far as calories though. A year or so ago I was doing low carb/sugar free and keeping my calories at 1800 or below. She said I should up my cals to 2000 at that time, so that's what I'm shooting for now.
Hubby walked with me today. He's in pretty bad shape so I was surprised he wanted to. We walked down the gravel road at a pretty good pace (for us LOL). 10 minutes walking and my heart rate was 115bps according to my Fitbit and 125bps according to his pulsometer. Either way, it was elevated and I was breathing hard. Doesn't sound like a lot, but it's a start. We'll do it again tomorrow. 😁
I should be hearing from the surgeon soon. She said if I didn't, to call him next week. Since I HAVE to do the 6 month diet & that's going to put me into January by the time it's done, I'm hoping the surgeon will let me do all my testing in January. I don't want to do it all now and have my deductible get met, only to have to pay the deductible again in January or February for my surgery. Praying that things go the way I hope. 🙏

Factors Affecting the Growth of the Alternative Sweeteners Industry:
Health Consciousness: The increasing awareness among individuals about the health issues linked to high sugar consumption, such as obesity, diabetes, and cardiovascular diseases, is supporting the market growth. Consumers are becoming more health-conscious and seeking products that can provide sweetness without the negative health effects associated with sugar. This shift in consumer preferences is leading to a greater demand for low-calorie and natural sweeteners like stevia, monk fruit, and erythritol. These sweeteners offer the added benefit of having minimal impact on blood glucose levels, making them suitable for diabetic and health-conscious individuals.
Technological Advancements: Innovations in the production and formulation of alternative sweeteners are impelling the market growth. Advancements in biotechnology and food science are leading to the development of high-intensity sweeteners with improved taste profiles and functional properties. Innovations in fermentation processes enhance the production efficiency and quality of natural sweeteners like stevia and monk fruit. These technological improvements are making alternative sweeteners more appealing to both manufacturers and consumers. Enhanced stability, solubility, and sweetness intensity allow these sweeteners to be used in a wide range of products, ranging from beverages to baked goods.
Consumer Trends and Preferences: Evolving consumer trends and preferences are playing a significant role in driving the alternative sweeteners market. Consumers are increasingly seeking natural and plant-based sweeteners, aligning with broader trends toward plant-based diets and veganism. Besides this, there is an increase in the demand for low-calorie and sugar-free alternatives that support weight management and overall wellness. Food and beverage companies are responding to these trends by innovating and expanding their product lines to include options sweetened with alternative sweeteners, thereby catering to changing tastes and health concerns of modern consumers.
