Wantmeback 0 Posted February 2, 2007 HI Cyndy, Welcome to bandland. Whereabouts in Oregon do you live? I used to go to Portland every year for the Rose Fest. It's been a few years since I've been there. It's a beautiful area. Are you going to Mexico for the surgery? I've been banded since Nov 06. The surgery is not too tough at all.Keep us posted, lots of info here. You can learn alot by just scrolling the threads. Bye 4 now, Kelley Hi, I live in a small town very close to Salem, Oregon. Are you in Oregon? Yes I'm going to TJ with Dr. Ortiz for my surgery. Where did you go? Thanks for saying "hey" I've never really got into a forum before, but this seems to feel really good here. Everybody supporting everyone and sharing so much info. Take care:) Cyndy

I live on 10 acres and have know idea what to do with all that acerage. Oh well... I had my surgery (self pay) in Monterrey Mexico. My doc was so wonderful. His Name is Javier De La Garza. I wasn't real nervous until the actual day of surgery. You know, you just get to the point when you say enough is enough. I have obesity in my family, my dad had gastric bypass lost so much weight. Then I just started researching and lapband was the least invasive.. I have a feeling you will love the band.. I do. This forum is the best. I've never been in chat rooms before, but i here i go to lots of different threads and just meet and learn and talk. Keep us posted . You will do fine. kjojojr 0 Posted February 7, 2007 :nervous Hey Kelley, where is the valley are you?I am in Stockton....and will have surgery Feb.15th with Dr. Huacuz in Tijuana Hi Joline, I live in Stevinson, which is in Merced county. Surgery date is right around the corner for you. It is pretty exciting to start a new chapter in your life.... Just don't expect quick results. I'm a slow loser about a pound a week , but I'm just happy I'm not gaining. And about this harley thread, how about other motorcyles? I started riding after 20 years off (raising my kids )and I have a bike but not a harley yet. Take pity on us non harley riders:D Good luck on the 15th and keep us posted, Kelley
RidinMyHDDream 1 Posted February 7, 2007 Hi Ladies. Under the Lap Band support section I started Banded Bikers II. I had questions about road trips, rallies, etc when banded. There hasn't been much in the way of responses but we definately can use that for all bikers. We're all one family! :shade: Right Kelley? Joline good luck on the 15th. I've been surprised how easy it's been so far. I just started my 'mushie' phase for a week and then start phasing in all the other stuff. I only learned how to ride last year and unfortunately have been grounded since October due to surgery for a torn achilles tendon....but hopefully soon. I haven't bought any leathers because I didn't want to see my huge butt in chaps...lol So I'm looking forward to having some by the next winter season. Fortunately we don't have much winter here in San Antonio.
Lee4love1 0 Posted February 7, 2007 Well...I am down to the last weeks....I have a dietician class tomorrow...,.The I will see "Dr Weaver" on Feb 28--to set up my surgery date. I hope that week 1 or 2 will be a great week....I am not worried so much now that I am getting the hang with eating yogurt and sugar free Jello in the past few weeks....Making it my snack--it's making me feel so much different. The only thing to disrupt anything was the Superbowl party. Next year--same time will be so much different. July 4th, Thanksgiving and Xmas....I am hoping to eat very little for a big change in my life...Lee

hybeam54 0 Posted February 8, 2007 Hi all, one week away...liquid diet sucks(correction: hunger sucks!) looking forward to seeing th scale going down...can't wait to feel better. I too have had a couple of back surgeries so working is hard and the weight doesn't help. Joline
RidinMyHDDream 1 Posted February 9, 2007 Hang in there Joline! You're almost there. I'm about midway through week 3 and just now feeling some hunger. Metabolism must be kicking in. It's well worth it. Just keep your eye on the prize!! And don't forget about the smaller chaps!
katieo 0 Posted February 9, 2007 Lee4love1 I wouldn't set any goals until I know how the band works with my body, we just don't know how things are gonna turn out and if we fail to lose the amount we planned then we feel like failures and are discouraged. I have been down that road sooooo many times and have had to learn the hard way, I have learnt ANY loss is a good loss. Even 0.5 a week. I found your message to bandiva extremely discouraging and was dissapointed to find a message like that on a support forum. x katie
RidinMyHDDream 1 Posted February 9, 2007 Katie, you're right that we do need to support each other regardless of the amount lost. Lee did apologize for her comments though in this stream of postings so I'm hopeful that she won't criticize again. This is a 'support' group and I know I appreciate everyone's positive comments. We are all fighting the same fight. :peace:
bandiva 0 Posted February 9, 2007 Hi everyone! I have been away and missed all the excitement around here. No worries, all is well. It was a simple misunderstanding. We all are scared of not losing weight after making this big commitment, and that is probably what prompted Carol's remark. I feel confident that it had nothing to do with me personally. Carol, I wish you nothing but success in your journey. (Besides I don't want bad a__ bikers coming after me! LOL! You all are awesome! ) Everyone else, thank you for jumping in on my behalf. It warms my heart to see how we stick together on this site. Huge hugs! PS...I have lost 35 lbs now! Yippee!
RidinMyHDDream 1 Posted February 10, 2007 Hi Diva...just to clarify, I (Carol) was on your side. Lee's comment hit me completely wrong too especially since it's on the thread that I started. I didn't comment about what she said since someone else did but now that she's apologized I don't think we need to keep bringing it up. Congratulations on your continued success! I'm looking forward to being able to say the same thing. I go for my 1 month follow up on the 20th and to discuss the first fill. I'll be needing your expert guidance since you are ahead of me in the process. Wishing all the bandsters who visit success and support each day! And being a beginning biker with almost a year I'm not quite yet bad a__, all I know is I'm really looking forward to having a smaller one...lol :shade:
