My husband and I are having ours done together this summer.I am waiting 2 Weeks after his surgery to do mine. Hoping that will give him enough time to heal enough to help me post op. Any other couples that have done it together? Suggestions?

My husband and I are at the end of our pre-op check list.. We Have our EEG's this Saturday and we will be ready to schedule surgery dates a week later. But, I guess knowing that it will be a while before I can have my favorite foods, I have been eating more than I ever have. I know I wont have a problem changing my diet once the Doctor schedules my surgery, but I just want to know is this normal? I feel almost like I havent had to really watch my diet as much because help is on the way... Then I feel so guilty... Anyone else have this issue before surgery?

Before I had my surgery I made sure to eat all my favorite meals. I guess I was afraid I would never be able to eat them again. Now I can eat them but in moderation and not as often. Some stuff I dont even want anymore. Good luck to you and your husband:-)

I wish my husband would do this with me. I'm still trying to convince him to get on board for me to do it. He thinks it's the easy way out and I just need to try harder. Ugh. I'm doing this though.

So change of plans, my husband started the police academy and has lost alot of wieght and looks great (I always thought so anyway). As for me, my surgery is finally scheduled, September 10th.. Excited and nervous at the same time. More nervous about missing work, I think. Anyway... That is my bit for the day.. Any tips for my week long, pre op liquid diet?

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
