Taste is very subjective but the best two that I have found are Myoplex and Pure Protein. Taste of Myoplex is slightly better, protein content is slightly higher at 49g, but they are 300 calories per can. Pure Protein is almost as good, has 35g of protein, and only has 160 calories. So Pure Protein gets the nod from me! I also highly recommend the Pure Protein Bars - especially the chocolate Deluxe. 200 calories each and 20g of protein. Very good!

Second time in the last couple of days that I've seen "protein water" and I'm not familiar with it unless we're talking about drinks like Isopure or Cytomax. I didn't care for Isopure (AT ALL) but Cytomax was much better (still very sweet). I only needed it for a week or two immediately following surgery and was glad to move on to shakes.< /p>

you might want to try nectar or matrix. They have many flavors and if you go to bariatric pantry you can buy sample packs so that you try different flavors before you buy the larger quanitiies. Nectar has no sugar. Matrix has very little sugar and they are yummy too. I really like the strawberry cream. I agree about the Protein bars. Choc deluxe and Peanut Butter ones are the best. Aktins advantage has good ones too. Just be aware that the box is the same size as Pure Protein, but you only get 5 with Atkins whereas you get 6 with Pure Protein. I hope this helps.

Another option is to buy unflavored and use the Mio flavored energy drinks or the Crystal Light flavored packets.

Protein shakes :

I have tried several different ones the only one that actually taste very good and don't leave a bad after taste it's called "Muscle Milk" it comes in powder form. Mix it with Water NOT milk, they have several different flavors. I get it from GNC store but you can find it at a Health food store, or even a Gym. You could mix in fresh fruit and even Peanut Butter for added Protein. Protein Shakes help turns your FAT into MUSCLE so it help with sagging skin. More muscle you have less sag you will have.

At mybariatricpantry.com, you can order sample packs of Syntrax Nectars, matrix, and a third one I can't think of at the moment. Just type in sample packs on the main page. I like the nectars with cold Water and a lot of ice- mixed and shaken. Tried my immersion blender but it got frothy on top and didn't like that. I like that blender for chocolate flavors. I also like carb control EAS. Tried a couple of kinds before surgery and liked that best. Good luck!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
