Did anyone get pregnant before the recommended 12-16 months? If so, how much weight gain? Any complications? Were you able to have natural childbirth?

Hello, I just came across this forum. I have a support group on FB and we have a couple of girls on there who became pregnant within months of having RNY. If you are interested talking to them, the group name is Pregnant after Weight Loss Surgery. Good Luck to you!

Hey Aqua! I had two post op pregnancies. I got pregnant with my first 14 months out. I had one complication and that was as soon as I got pregnant my hypertension came back so I was immediately high risk. I delived at 39 weeks, with a vaginal delivery and gained 25 pounds. I couldn't get the weight off though that was the hard part no matter what I did I couldn't lose it. Two years later I got pregnant with my son. Had gestational diabetes with him. Hypotension lol go figure right never thought I'd have low blood pressure. I had a vaginal delivery with him as well at 39 weeks 3 days. I'm more then happy to answer any questions you have. Let me know if I can help you any more! :) dawn

Hello - were u trying to get pregnant? Did you use any form of birth control?

Are you asking me? Yes both of my pregnancies were planned. I was told to wait at least 14 month after surgery to try and get pregnant so I started trying right a soon as I hit that mark. Lol

Hello,

I had my surgery in March 23rd this year and just found out that i'm pregnant just 3 months 10 days later. even after using contraception. Oh GOD i'm soo much worried now. Do you know anyone who is in the same situation like myself? I spoke with the GP and they referred me to the same hospital where i had my surgery. I'm so worried about what will happen. I have been trying for a baby for last 9 years before surgery and never god pregnant. but didn't want it to happen so soon after surgery. I have lost about 25kg after surgery and now my weight is 74kg. My diabetes and blood pressure both in control but i'm still worried. please help.

Hi, first of all congratulations to you. I'm on the same boat. Too much worried at the moment. Saw my OB, diabetic nurse, dietetian and midwife already. Had an ultrasound too. They are trating me as a high risk patient and will closely monitor me for the next 33 weeks. I'm now 7 weeks 3 days. They only saw the yolk sac on the u/s as it was too early to see a baby but assured me it was ok. They also told me check my diabetes abd bp at home. This is my first and i was also using condoms given by my gp. Where r u from? I'm from london, england. My dietetian said i will keep on loosing weight at it was supposed to be. So need to eat the foods that has most vits and minerals in it to dupport baby.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
