Has Anyone Got Plastic Surgery In Mexico?

Recommended Posts

Thank you to all who answered to my post' date=' however not to my question.

I am wanting to talk to those who DID chose to go to Mexico or abroad for cosmetic surgery.

I trust other country's doctors and I really don't like the slander on Mexican doctors. Some are genius just like some in the USA are too. That is why for my breasts I would only see dr Robert Rey (usa doc)and not other surgeons in the USA because he is amazing in breasts and does them in Beverly hills all the time.

Again I thank you guys for your posts but I DO want to go abroad for my plastic surgery.

Thanks

Not sure how to comment on the forum. But I wanted to share that I went to Puerto Vallarta for my RNY. I was scared out of my mind. But I was greatly surprised of the care I received and the quality of the hospital and the Drs care and empathy for his patients. The cost was significantly cheaper and my insurance would not cover my surgery. I paid $8500 for my surgery including hospital fees. I had additional cost for airfare, hotel (5 days required at hospital but they want you there for at least 10 days to remove drains). I plan on going back for plastics when it's time.

Thank you <img src='http://www.bariatricpal.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' /> do you have any suggestions on a plastic surgeon ?

I'm working on finding one. I know there is a surgeon who practices at the same hospital I went to and I met a lady who was down there having a Tummy Tuck. She owns a business called Beat The Odds Permanent Weight Loss, she brings patients from Canada down to Puerto Vallarta for Bariatric surgery but she also is in the works of setting up plastics down there too. Look her up on fb or web. Her name is Pam Reiland, she is a very nice supportive lady. Good Luck!

A friend of mine had the band done in Mexico and was very successful! However she did get sick a lot. She found a fill station in the US for her post op fills. When I was looking into it, I found out that most of the surgeons there (Mexico) taught the surgeons in the US. Keep doing ur research but I hope this helps.

My cousin also did RNY in Mexico, and she had great success. She found a doctor near to do all her follow ups. She just celebrated 1 year. She looks amazing. I don't think I would have had the guts to out of the country.

Go to Obesityhelp and read all the info on Dr. Sauceda...He has a huge following with awesome result/testimonials and patients who are proud to show their pictures of their results there and on FB..they are great for support and give awesome details of what to expect before during and after your procedures...I had a consult with him last year in Las Vegas...His practice is in Monterrey Mexico...for one single procedure done here I can get six done with him for almost the same price...the price includes his clinic stay the hospice/hotel(15-17 days)stay, air fair reimbursement (4 anything over $10,000.), anesthesia, daily nurse visit and care..For my personal procedures he said he would do a total lower body lift, breast lift (w/out implants if I wanted them cost would be $1000, more) arm reduction, leg lift total cost $17,000. With a mini face lift upper body lift at later date for $10,000. I still have about 70lb to lose and to fill up my piggy banks....His wife is his anthestesioligist (sorry about the misspell) and sat in with him on the consult both super sweet people made me comfortable right away...good luck on your journey :)

Just research research research..... Usher's ex-wife had complications during hers in another country and Kanye's mom past as well..... It happens, so all u can do is research and pray. I had Tummy Tuck, Lipo of upper body and thighs in bowie, md for 8k, and this doctor has document he gives you stating any problems with your level of satisfaction, he will fix at no cost to you... He was good!

Good luck. Will pray for your safety...:-)

Sometimes reading the posts here make me wonder if some people just weren't mentally ready for WLS and needed more time with the bariatric team psychiatrist. Complaining about the limited drink/food choices early on... blah..blah...blah. The living to eat mentality really needs to go and be replaced with eating to live. JS

We have to remember that everyone moves at their own pace. For some it may be harder to adjust, people may have other factors at play that feed into the unhealthy relationship with food e.g. eating disorders, trauma. I'd hope those who you are referring to address this outside of this forum, with a professional.

This is a place to feel safe to vent, seek advice, hopefully without judgement.

Compassion goes a long way :)

Seems it would be more compassionate not to perform a WLS on someone until they are mentally ready for it. Unless of course they are on death's door...

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.
