As far as your doc thinking you can get plenty of Protein in without the shakes, maybe he's right. But I can't eat in the morning because I'm too restricted. So it's either have the shake or not eat at all.

As far as how you feel, are you Superwoman? That's incredible that you feel good so soon. You must be a fast healer! Good for you, far out, and all that jazz.

Farty pants...., :)

I don't feel much restriction at all, so eating in the morning's are not a problem, except for I'm not a big Breakfast person.

I am pleasantly surprised at how fast I have healed. Although I don't have much to compare it to. The only other time I was in a hospital was for the birth of my son.

I actually think that getting off the couch and going to work helped my healing process, but that might all be mental

The only thing that scares me is the recovery time. On an average how long was ya'lls recovery period, like before you went back to work? A week sounds like a long time for me to be off, but is that really how long it takes? I told my work that I figured since I was having my surgery on a Wednesday, then I should be back in the office the following Monday. Ya'll think thats unrealistic? Thanks for all of the kind welcomes :)

I was banded in October 2003. I had to stay one night in the hospital. He still wants me to do the protien shakes, but I do not do them as much as I should. I am going to have a fill with his partner Dr Garwood today in College Station. This will be my 3rd fill. He put in .4 at first then the second time 1.1 for a total of 1.5. I am hoping he will give me a whole 1 today. we will see.

It's so hard to say because I think everyone is different and their recovery is different. I think that I could have had the surgery on a Wednesday and gone to work the following Monday, but I'm glad I had the entire week off. You might be fine going back to work that quickly, but it's hard to predict.

If you have the time to take, I would take a week. But that's just me :)

If you have the time available, I'd take the full week off. You probably will do just fine. But you'll have little aches and pains pop up in various areas of your body for several days. These will lessen in strength as each day goes by. Plus it will give you time to concentrate on getting your ton of Water in and just learning to live w/ your band.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
