AnnMarie49930 25 Posted June 16, 2012 When at the surgeons on Wednesday he said I have to quit smoking. I have smoked for 20 years! Did anyone else have to quit and if so,what are some things you used to help? My PCP put me on the nicotine patch yet the surgeon said not to use them. aleyampat 22 Posted June 17, 2012 Belle, Your arsenic? I, too, quit the night before surgery. I've been fine. No cravings. In fact I was at a graduation party today and some kids were smoking. It was all coming my way, of course. I moved. Not because it made me want one but because the smell was kind of nasty.

BBdoodle 483 Posted June 17, 2012 I was suppose to stop smoking 2 wks before surgery, I had to even sign a contract with my dr. !!!! I did sign the contract but was way too nervous to quit so I smoked up until the day before surgery. My last smoke was about 11pm on a Sunday and surgery was on Monday morning at 7:30 a.m. I have no problem quiting its just that I enjoy smoking When I left the hopsital after 3 days I did not even have a craving for a smoke, of course now that I am feeling 110% I do have a craving every now and then.
