morist 0 Posted June 16, 2012 Hi all. Im new here. Surgery on 5-11-12 and down from 297 to 257. Yahoo!! But I have a weird thing that has been going on just since surgery. When i put my hands in certain positions, sometimes where my hands are at head level and then sometimes when i am typing and they are at waist level, my hands cramp up. The thumb moves by itself and kinda atrophies. And my whole hand starts to do the same but it hurts so i shake and move my hand and it stops. What the heck is that? Anybody know? KevinsBabyGirl85 364 Posted June 16, 2012 I had that happen too and I found out I was Vitamin D deficient!
DLCoggin 1,788 Posted June 16, 2012 Also could be a shortage of potassium. I still get occasional cramps in my feet. Hurts like a son of a gun! I'm sure the doctor can give you some suggestions for relieving the hand cramps.
Beachbum 70 Posted June 18, 2012 I had something similar in my third pregnancy - they called it pregnancy induced carpal tunnel. It's due to shifting weight and Fluid pressure on the nerves. For the last month of it, I had no sensation in my hands or lower arms. It resolved shortly after delivery. I wonder if how you are carrying yourself/shifting of fluid etc is impacting your nervous system. Acupuncture was suggested to me but I could mother comfortable in any position for more than a few minutes. Good luck - it is very uncomfortable and unsettling
