WARNING: Do not drink & surf!

Recommended Posts

So, here I was sitting at my computer (about 20 mins ago)....doing the surf thing and sipping on my Breakfast drink before I have to leave for work.

I was all comfy and settled....took a sip (okay, okay, a big sip!) of my drink, swallowed it and then felt like I was going to cough. I didn't feel too tight and just figured it was going to be an average, run-o-the-mill cough....big deal right?

So, I cough and as I started to cough I quickly realized "UH OH"....as my brain realized this was going to be a problem a little too late, it didn't have time to appropriately react and set up an effective defence.

So, ummmmmmmmmmm.....lets just say I completey spewed my chocolate milky concoction (witch's brew) as I coughed and it went ALL OVER the friggin' keyboard (do you KNOW HOW many nooks & crannies are in the keyboard that seem to yell out for my drink to flow into?), all over the front of my work uniform and on the rug. Now, I KNOW I did not swallow THAT much drink so I'm assuming much of it was chocolate covered slime.

*sigh*

Mr Yoda is going to killlllll me.

Hmmmmmm, unless I have successfully wiped up the mess (on the keyboard, table, rug, and chair!) and it dries before he gets home later today. I guess I'll be okay as long as he doesn't turn the keyboard upside down and shake it (no, something he is not prone to doing).

I guess he has a point when he says I shouldn't drink at the computer, eh? Maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaan, I HATE it when he is always right!!!!!

Anyways....so be forewarned: don't drink and surf....or at the very least....don't drink, cough and surf!

:D

Blame it on the dog. If you dont have one, get one before DH gets home. Or a baby, they are pretty good for puking too.

The only time I have ever had issue with drinking like that---I did the same, but I was only drinking tea...and since it was unsweetened, it was not a big issue---but it hit sudden just like that!

I have thought for years, that the diet soda industry was missing out on a HUGE selling point (especially now with the Splenda diet drinks), by not pointing out to Mom's, that diet drinks when slopped or spilled---are not sticky. They do not ruin the keyboard (!), or the remote, and you do not have to mop the kitchen floor 5 times...once works. I will occasionally stop by a drive thru and grab an iced tea to have to sip on while shopping or something, and I hate it when they bring it out to me, and the cup it is in is sticky....eeewww.

Hope your keyboard survives the chocolate spew!!

Good idea but knowing Mr Yoda as I do, a dog (or a baby for that matter!) would be waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay worse than spilling somethin' on the keyboard!!!

hehe

You see, now he will be relieved all he needs to do is get a new $20 keyboard.

Yoda,

I read this the other day and it made me remember much younger days and spilling a coke in the phone I was operating... it wasn't just a phone but it was the switchboard... about 5 mins later as I was panicing that no one would get calls at the investment firm I was working at... a bell dude walked in and made it all so much better.

I avoid keeping drinks and food near the laptop cause I know I am just that much of a klutz.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
