Psychologist And Surgeron Appointments

Recommended Posts

Okay because I'm the type of person looks to have my ducks in a row. I have my psychologist and surgeron appointments next week and I really like to have a rough idea of what's going to happen. I know each person has there own experience but I figure/assume there is some basics that they all follow. So if someone or someones can give me an idea of is going to happen...I would love it! :) Thanks.

The psychologist told me that my appointment will be about 3-4 hours. Is that normal? I don't think I can talk about myself for that long...I'm actually quite boring! ;) lol

Then I figure the surgeron is a meet and greet type appointment and then will discuss why I'm here and what surgery would be best for me kind of thing.

Any help would be lovely! Thanks y'all!

I started my appts back in March of this year:)

when I WENT to the psyc. Appt it took about 2hrs...we talked about history in regards to family and medical problems, eating habits, any depression..etc.

Then I took an hr long computer test that asked me questions about me.. most questions were the same and repeated but worded differently. It is suppose to help identify certain psychological flags.

After that my appts were with the clinical nurse, the dietician, and the bariatrician and her nurse.... Had more dietician appts here and there. It wasn't until I was approved did they set up my appt. With the surgeon which was last Monday June 4.... We talked about my procedure and picked my surgery date...its next Thursday June 21! I'm so excited and can't wait for this journey to begin...

I wish you the best of luck:)

I just went this week for both my psych appointment and first surgeon visit. The psych eval took two hours. The surgeon took about 3 hours.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
