I have 6 may months before my surgery. But I started taking Vitamins everyday and drinking Protein Shakes. Also 1 week a Monday I'm gonna do a liquid fast. So when its time for surgery its a pieceof cake.

I have 6 may months before my surgery. But I started taking Vitamins everyday and drinking Protein shakes. Also 1 week a Monday I'm gonna do a liquid fast. So when its time for surgery its a pieceof cake.

That's a good idea. I didn't have to do the prep diet but I started walking everyday two weeks prior to surgery as well as the exercises that they gave me to do immediately after so that I would already be over the soreness of starting a new exercise regime. The day I got home from the hospital I walked a mile and everyday after while I was recovering. The only down time I had was the one day I was in the hospital. It was exhausting walking in the beginning right after surgery but I persevered....

It has gotten a lot better. I guess I'm used to it now. It's not all liquids thank God. Certain veggies are unlimited, two Protein shakes or bars a day, 3oz of meat, 3 small fruits or cups of fruit, and other boring foods. Lol

Oh girl what I wouldn't do to have veggies,a bar,and 3oz,and some fruits yummy. I can live with that.

It's a lot better. The cravings come and go and I have cheated, but I'm doing good.

Are u all on liquid ? My surgeon told me not to do a diet before. Not to overeat but do not have to stick to 600 calorie diet.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
