Has anyone out there had there surgery by Dr Graber in Syracuse? He did an awesome job and I highly recommend him. St Joes hospital was so nice to me I couldn't of asked for a nicer stay.

Had my surgery with dr Graber in 2009. Lost 143 pounds. He does know his stuff. Listen really well and his nutritionist really knows her stuff. It can be very confusing to balance things after surgery

I tried to get in with Dr Graber-- they were ready to see me, and were going to schedule my initial consult for a few weeks out from my initial call..... Until they found out my insurance provider. Once they realized I was on Family Health Plus BCBS they pushed my initial consult out to Dec 2013.

I am now in with Dr Oceguera at Cooperstown, and she is a great fit for me!

I'm with Dr. Graber as well, said I'd do either office which ever has a more readily available appt. - I just filled out the paperwork again and am pre op - waiting for orientation. I've gone to 3 orientations with Dr. Graber already, I just never went through with the surgery. I had one surgery date that I had to cancel...

He is a very good doctor, the only problem at all I've faced is he does take medicaid with fidelis and the like - BUT it takes like a year to get the surgery done with medicaid. If you self pay they get you right in but who wants to give $25,000 if insurance can pay for it? Other than that he's a great doctor I would highly recommend him. He's great at listening, and he is very caring as are his whole staff. He came highly recommended from everyone I know who had him do their surgeries as well.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
