diddle106 71 Posted June 3, 2012 Ok so here is my quick story. I quit smoking Jan 1st 2011 and I didn't start smoking again till Nov 2011. I quit again dec 26th 2011 till about April 2012. I had my surgery Jan 9 2012. Anyways, I can't believe I gave in again. I was wondering if anyone else smokes and if anyone knows the consequences of doing it. Thanks! atcgoddess1 37 Posted June 4, 2012 One thing...it can greatly increase the likelihood of ulcers. 1 JoanM reacted to this
john 181 Posted June 4, 2012 I think it only causes ulcers while you're still healing. She's 3 months out. She should be healed already .

LosingItForMe2011 320 Posted June 4, 2012 My surgeon said the same, they want folks to quit smoking because it can irritate your stomach including ulcers.
Melsauve 76 Posted June 5, 2012 My Dr told us that smoking could literally perforate your pouch and cause death. My dr refused to surgery on people who smoke because of the high risks of death. I'm not trying to scare you I'm just letting you know what I was told. I know it's not easy I was smoker 5 years ago but I know you can do it! 1 stephane0603 reacted to this

SaltLifeClint 3 Posted June 18, 2012 I quit a 2 pack a day habit about ten years ago. I tried and failed so many times! I failed all but the last time! You can do it. Stats show that most people quit multiple times before it sticks. One small jedi mind trick? Don't try to quit smoking-Become a non smoker. The first takes way too long, and the second is instantatneous. BTW, The patch worked for me the last time (though I had failed with it previously). 1 JoanM reacted to this
phenomenal Woman 24 Posted June 21, 2012 Not good to smoke, my Aunt had get surgery in November 2011 and she started back smoking again. She started bleeding so she went to the doctor and they found out she has a bleeding ulcer and the doctor said it came from her smoking. They might have to open her up so they can fix it. It is soooo NOT WORTH IT. Phenomenal Woman Aka Bosslady using RNYTalk
