Yes. I was discussing this with my husband this afternoon. It has been almost a week for me and I don't know what to do.

I've been lucky... I "went" two days post op and have continued fine so far... I'm postop day 5

I'm was fine right after. I'm 4 weeks post op and just added soft foods to my diet.

Hi, I am 12 days past surgery. I had to call my doctor's office for the same problem. She told me to take the regular dose of miralax. She also mentioned that she has to take dulcolax(sp?) every day. The nurse is had her rny 2 years ago. Hopefully my body will get back onto a normal schedule.

I have the same problem. It started about 2 weeks out from surgery for me. If I haven't "gone" in 3 days I take a dose of Mirilax. I take the recommended dose which is the full white cap and it works. It isn't harsh (for me anyway) it just helps you "go". I have been told that this is a lifetime thing. Just one more medicine ya gotta take. Hopefully you get some relief, but don't let yourself go too long, because I get miserable if I do. Hope this helps you and anyone else.

Not to be too grose but does that make you "go" everyday? I am just wondering if this might help me feel better because sometimes I get that bloated feeling and gas, and this might solve this.

I either take milk of magnesia or dulcolax. Every 2 days. If not its horrible!! I'm 17 days post op! But I've also been told that it is a lifetime thing now! So get used to it gals! :0(

I have had the same problem. I spoke with my nutritonist and she suggested miralax, but also said your body should begin to get accustom to your "new" diet and the Constipation should subside. One thing that has really helped me is getting in my daily fruit. It seems to get the system flowing...lol. l found that when l had two Protein Shakes a day l was more apt to become constipated so i cut down to one a day.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
