I'm paying to see the psychologist out of pocket it's only $189.00 so I can swing that. Chech and see what the out of pocket cost is...then you can move forward.

Make sure that you check how much it'll cost. Luckily my insurance covered mine with just a copayment of $25.00, the psychologist I went to charges $500 for the psych evaluation.

Can we see a psychiatrist for a psych eval or it has to be a psychologist? I'm not even sure it matters lol.

normally psychiatrists do not do psych evals as their expetise is medicine perscriptions. Normally you will see either a psychologist or a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) (I'm a clinical social worker working on getting my license) Just check to make sure your insurance accepts whomever you end up choosing.

Thanks :) I had my psych do an eval today and all went well. Nice to meet another social worker. I'll be getting my MSW in May :)

Good for you!! When did you have the surgery? I'm focusing on substance abuse/mental health. I love the mental health field as well. What school did you get your MSW from?

Surgery was June 7. I got my degree from Fresno State. Been working at the state hospital in coalinga for the past 2 1/2 years. Work with violent sexual predators who have been civilally committed after serving their prison terms. Interesting work
