Sissyx4 0 Posted May 29, 2012 I am 6 weeks out and doing great. I have lost 35 pounds.....I have a question..has anyone tried Diet soda and been ok? Diet Dr. Pepper especially!
DLCoggin 1,788 Posted May 29, 2012 I haven't tried any but my surgeon said no carbonated drinks, diet or otherwise. Period. No exceptions. The carbonation stretches the pouch. There are a lot of non-carbonated alternatives though - Crystal light, Decaf coffee or tea, etc.

john 181 Posted May 30, 2012 If you must have soda it has to be diet ,decaf and absolutely flat.
armywifet 26 Posted May 30, 2012 I tried diet coke but it was flat, my surgeon said I could do that. I had a little taste and it was enough. I have been drinking crystal light and store brand crystal light. Water is still hard for me, it hurts worse than anything.

Terry Poynter 4 Posted May 30, 2012 ok, I have no problems with diet mountain dew. having said that. BIG mistake to even drink them. several reasons, the first, stretches your pouch. second, stretches your pouch, third, all that extra sodium makes you drink even more. did I mention it stretches your pouch? 1 DLCoggin reacted to this
Terry Poynter 4 Posted May 30, 2012 I am 3 years out from my surgery and believe the reason I have stopped losing weight is the carbonated diet drinks. I should be stabilized and ready to consider getting excess skin removed but have not achieved my target goal yet. so, do yourself a favor and don't drink the carbonated drinks. 1 berniec reacted to this
Sissyx4 0 Posted June 4, 2012 no soda of any kind for me....not worth stretching out my pouch...that would defeat the purpose of weight loss surgery...I'll stick to my water..thanks for all the feed back
