I was banded on 7/7/04. My 1st fill is going to be on Thursday 8/12. Up to this point I have fallen back into my old habit of night eating. I don't feel full often......will the 1st fill help me out in feeling full???

That is a difficult question to answer becasue everyone is so different when it comes to fills and how much you get with your fill. I, personally have only had one fill of 1.1cc;s and I have plenty of restriction and have done well with it..I'm losing 1-2 pounds a week. I do not think you will never ever experience that "Thanksgiving dinner" full feeling again but I do feel full after I eat but it is not an uncomfortable full it is more of a satisfied full, that is where your head has to do some of the work..I now only eat when I'm truly hungry and stop when I'm satisfied. I do not eat just becasue I " think" I'm hungry like I did pre band.

I have the same problem at night..I crave sweets so instead I go into my room with my 24oz Water bottleand read, post here or watch TV to keep my mind off the cravings. The water helps. I stay as far away from the kitchen as I can :)

Good Luck to you

My fill really did help me. It just won't allow you to eat past a certain point. You really start living the banded life after a fill, take it slow. Eat slow, chew slow and stop eating at the first sign of fullness. Best of luck to you.

Scott, you have done fantastic in a very short period of time! Are you doing any type of exercise yet? You're probably still getting over your surgery, so please don't overdo. And please get your surgeon's o.k. before starting anything. Drink that ton of Water required. It helps fill you up. Also, don't eat too close to bedtime because of possible reflux problems.

I've gotten into the habit of bike riding w/my husband after dinner. We were walking, but biking is so much "cooler" in this heat! Sunday evening, we saw a spotted tiny fawn and mother, then about 15 more deer. What a treat! A few months ago (pre-band), I would have missed out on all of this because I would have been "parked" in the house in the air conditioning.

There hasn't been anything on t.v. so that helps encourage me to "get out the door". I really look forward to it now!

When I come in, I don't want to eat a lot to "undo" all that work. I do allow myself one sweet each day. Usually it's a fat-free pudding or ice cream. That may be slowing down my weight loss, but it seems to satisfy my urge.

A lot of people do Water aerobics. Please come here and "talk" to us. We need some more males on this board.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
