Hi All! I need some help. I am so sick of cold food, cottage cheese, deli meat, etc. I've seen several of you talk about having chili. I would like to know how you're making it. I'm not a cook by any means, but it seems like it might be spicy. Any help anyone could give me on this would be greatly appreciated. I am so sick of cold meals. I've posted this before, but I haven't seen any results. ANY help is greatly appreciated!!--Kristen

My husband makes it with ground meat. Either beef or turkey.....we have done both. In the chili I can't taste the difference. We use 2 small cans of tomatoe sauce and 2 cans of Beans. He likes to use chili beans......but it can also be made with kidney Beans. Then we get the McCormick seasoning packet for chili. They have a spicy and a mild version. We make the spicy if it is just us eating it...but if the kids are eating it...we make the mild version. Both are super yummy and when I'm not having problems swallowing...I have no problems. I have even sprinkled a little bit of cheese on it without any problems. Hope that helps

Have you tried any of the fat free cream of Soups? Also all of the Beans are very high in Protein... I'm not sure what stage of your diet you're in but I can remember being tired of cold food and the fat free Soups becoming my best friend

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
