sweet 98 Posted May 26, 2012 what's the point of letring it melt under the tongue? is it only for people that are recently post op because it is difficult to swallow? or is there a purpose? mine is cherry flavored but I'm so tired of the taste, I just want to swallow it and get it over with.lol is it still absorbed if it's swallowed? does anyone know... KevinsBabyGirl85 364 Posted May 26, 2012 You have places under your tongue to absorb the B 12 that's why they make it that way for people who can't absorb it from the stomach that is why they tell us to take sublingual that way it absorbs all of the b 12 instead of just a portion of it! sweet 98 Posted May 26, 2012 thanks vamp... super helpful. I was hoping there was an easier way, but I guess I have to keep doing under the tongue Sweet
LosingItForMe2011 320 Posted May 26, 2012 vamp is right..there are certain meds that need to be taken for better absorbtion under the tongue. Nitro is even taken under the tongue because it works faster for heart patients. I've yet to find a B12 with a flavor other than cherry. Wonder if there is one and if that would help you. Maybe a mint one?
Jen in SoCal 189 Posted May 26, 2012 I use a liquid one (cherry flavor of course LOL) but you only have to keep it under your tongue for 30 seconds. Out of all of my supplements, I think it's the most tolerable.
kmiller 146 Posted May 26, 2012 Where do you all get your sublingual B12 at? Just a regular pharmacy?
hotshotcosmo 0 Posted May 26, 2012 Where do you all get your sublingual B12 at? Just a regular pharmacy? You can get it anywhere Vitamins are sold. You may have a better selection at places like GNC or the Vitamin Cottage.

LosingItForMe2011 320 Posted May 26, 2012 Ask your surgeon about it Sweet. They'll probably do it for you. I think even your PCP could do that.
