What Peeves you?

People who walk up to a counter and act like they are next. Do you not see the other people standing around? Would it hurt you to at least ask if the other people are being taken care of before you swoop in???? SO RUDE!!!!

After my trip to Walmart today---I have another!

I was in line behind a girl who bought 3 cases of Coke, and all kinds of Cookies, Hostess Snacks, chips, steaks, 2 bottles of high priced EVOO.....and paid for it all of course with an EBT card (foodstamps). THEN proceeded to shell out over $100.00 for 3 cartons of cigarettes!!!

We work to pay our taxes for them to eat better than we do, so she can spend her cash on cigarettes. My DH is subject to random urinalysis as part of his employment contract---he has to stay clean (not that it is an issue for us...but you get the idea), so he can pay taxes to help support these people who get Welfare every month---and yet THEY don't have to prove they are drug free!!!

Walmart----I can always find something to get on a nerve in there!!!

i know someone already said these, but boy do they chap my butt...

it's not "i want to LOOSE weight." it's LOSE. if you are on a site about weight-loss, at least know how to spell LOSE. your clothes are LOOSE after you LOSE weight.:faint:

PEOPLE WHO TYPE IN ALL CAPS. what? is your caps lock button broken?!

People Who Type Every Word With A Capital Letter. it's a pain to read and just plain ole obnoxious.

(now, i realize i don't capitalize anything, but it's a lot easier to read then the above examples. LOL.)

people who don't use turn signals, who BLAST their crappy music out of their car (hey buddy, if i wanted to listen to the crap coming out of your stereo, i'd be sitting in your car.) people who talk during movies. i did not just spend $10 to listen about how your sister's cousin's uncle's mom got food poisoning from eating a taco king. OKAY? people who leave their dogs outside all day and night so they bark ALL DAY AND NIGHT.

*sighs* i have a LOT more but i don't want to get myself all worked up. LOL.

People (particularly ones who struggle with their own weight) walking around the shops with their almost five year old strapped into a stroller eating hot chips and/or drinking coke.

Man that gets me angry! I really really strived not to inflict my bad habits onto my children. And what's with older kids sitting in strollers when they're big enough to walk. I had a very fat friend that did this with her daughter at basketball, the poor child sat in the stroller the whole time becuase her mother didnt want to have to get up to chase her. Of course the kid was fat. Eliza ran from one end of the centre to the other and got an hour's exercise! I could see her, why not let her run?

And I dont feed my kids that crap. We know its bad for them, that it will make them fat. I may not have been able to get a handle on my own addiction to bad foods like that but there is NO excuse for feeding it to your children on a regular basis apart from laziness or sheer stupidity.

And on the same topic - kids birthday parties. Why do kids have to have a birthday party every single year, and they get bigger and more expensive due to competition with other parents. And the rubbish food that's served to them. My friend had one for her son the other week and served up little cocktail frankfurts wrapped in pastry and topped with cheese and baked in the oven. EEEEEEEW, I just about died when I saw the kids eating that - what awful food!

I haven't read this whole thread and someone may have listed this one already. But, for me, probably my greatest peeve in all of life is that George W. Bush, the President of the United States, mind you, says "nucular" instead of "nuclear."

This is absolute bamboo shoots under the fingernails for me. I am so ashamed that on the international stage our president insists on presenting himself to the world as an illiterate bumpkin. I disagree with almost everything else he does, too, but this is a democracy and people voted for him. I can accept that. But I simply cannot understand how he could shame this country the way he does with that level of public illiteracy.

I hate this so much that I don't even feel better getting it off my chest. Well, OK, maybe I feel a little better. :D

I agree with many of the above peeves. The one I agree with the most is the music blaring from cars. When I'm stopped at a red light and one of those thump, thump, thumping cars pulls up beside me, I rest my hand on my horn.........out of sight of the offending car, of course. I could (I don't, but I could) look over in complete shock at the noise coming from under my hood!!!!!! They don't want to hear my horn any more than I want to hear their music. I think we should become a nation of retaliators to those who have no respect for other people! (I'm just kidding of course, but it sure gives me a power surge to think I COULD do it!)

My husband has always been in a band of some kind, and when neighbors would play their music too loud, I always wanted to get out the professional equipment that the band used and just BLOW THEM AWAY!!! :clap2: That would've made my day! (People using of instead of the contraction for have, as in would of instead of would've, also drive me nuts!) Thanks for letting me vent!

Thanks for teaching me alot is wrong wrong wrong - i've spelled it like that for years so - now I know it's a lot.

my pet peeve is people/men (haven't seen a woman do it yet) spit / 'hock a loogie (sorry, can't spell that word either!) - absolutely makes me gag.

Also - since when did 'con-ver-sate' become a word - I am amazed at how often I hear something like "we were conversating....

Mostly, I don't let too much get to me - I have enough to worry about on my own.

People who throw their cigarette butts out the window. See my previous post re: "what laws would you make". I think people caught throwing butts out the window should be pulled over and made to go find the butt and eat it. :)

Pet peeve on the board - like 24 pt bright pink font in all caps. Or 8 pages' worth of scrolling signature line with a guest appearance by every emoticaon known to man. And #1 - using "pb" and "vomit" synonymously.

Like many others have already indicated, a lot of mine are around "language". Not just spelling & grammar - I mean hell - my hands get going a lot faster than my brain sometimes. I hate the word "pop", as a beverage. This is actually a broad category. There's something about the way people here talk that grinds me. I know, respect the vernacular. Singular (not Cingular) stores don't end with an "s". You aren't going to "Targets", you're going to "Target". "Do you want" is three separate words, contrary to popular beliefs. It isn't "Y'ant". And it definitely isn't, "Y'antsago Targets?" No I don't want to go to Target, I'm gonna get me something somewhere else! Generally, like always, "ss" words do not end in "sst". You don't go acrosst the street. And you don't passt the time. And generally speaking "ed" is not "id", so it is not a "stripe-id" shirt.

Malapropisms. Children were so loud they were raising a carcass, for all intensive purposes.

People who think it's approriate to berate and (what I would consider) inappropriately discipline their children in public. Or each other, for that matter.

My biggest pet peeve is when I walk into someone's home and it is an absolute mess. In my house my friends say they need coasters for thier feet. I have this one friend that I have known now for 7 years and I have only been to her house 3 times and I need Golashes for her house

My biggest pet peeve is with my husband. He thinks he has to return everyone's shopping cart to the store. We get out of the car and he rounds up a cart and wheels it into the store. He could grab my hand and escort ME into the store.

My second pet peeve is those that brush their teeth in the public bathroom at work. I don't want to watch my husband brush his teeth, let alone a co-worker. It's just too gross for me.

I get peeved when I read the boards and see all the success stories, with great big weight loss, good control, and without all the drama. I feel happy for the person, but jealous. Grrrrrrrrr.

I hate hate hate really ocker Australian accents. That Steve Irwing type "g'day mate, howzit 'angin?" kind of thing.

I'm a patriotic Aussie but that just makes us sound stupid. We dont all talk like that.

On that note, Russell Crowe. Someone should exterminate him and put us all out of our misery. He speaks like that and he's not even an Australian - he's a New Zealander. Man, I cant stand him, he really irks me.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
