First Day Of Real Exercise .....

Recommended Posts

Today is six weeks post op and I've got the sweat pants and tank top on, and brought in and dusted off the glider and weights .....lol! Just finished a little stretching app on my phone then jumped on the glider and after five minutes I thought I was going to die! I have never exercised before in my life so I knew it was going to be pathetic.....but wow! Are there others out there that feel kinda pathetic? Lol. When you guys started out at first how long did you exercise for?

I was pathetic too. I'm 3 weeks post op so I've just been walking. I'm up to a mile and a half in 30 minutes. I decided every week I'm going to push myself a little further. I'm down 36 pounds.

If u wanna feel REAL pathetic try Zumba fitness rush. I do it on my daughters Xbox connect and I'm drenched in sweat in 5 mins. Lol. It is very intense. I do that for a 1/2 hour on the days I can't get out and walk. Sometimes I do the stationary bike for a 1/2 hour. I like to mix things up

Tell me about this zumba. I see it on TV & it looks so good & so fast & sweety... Have you seen the commercial on the Shawn T (I think that's how it's spell) it looks so good for the stomach. You know since I'm not rich & it's hard to save alot of money with 3 kids. I was thinking if I buy this DVD maybe my tummy will be super flat & so the rest of my body so I won't need plastic surgery? What you think?

Its most definitely a total body workout. Its more like Latin dancing. I have a friend taking a zumba class at a gym and she's lost 20 lbs and 12 inches in 2 1/2 months. No surgery. It is very intense. If your kids have a video gaming system u can buy the game. Which is the same as the DVDs but it tracks your progress too. They make it for the wii also.

Oh my gosh I remember 2 tomes in my life in the last 8 years that this happened. I actually cried both times. I was hurting, sad, angry and embarrassed at how far I'd let myself go.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
