Almost 3 Weeks Post Op

Recommended Posts

Hello. I am new and almost three weeks post op. I am finding it very difficult to get all my Protein. I am not liking Protein Shakes at all. I find some days I just don't care to eat and other days I think I am feeling hungry. With all that said, I am trying to get in all the stuff I am supposed to in a day. Trying to get everything in leaves me stressed out. I have lost 27 pounds since leaving the hospital. How do you handle getting everything in your supposed to? Do you find it as overwhelming as I do? How do you handle it?

Try to find Protein you like. Cottage cheese, scrambled eggs, tuna, Greek yogurt, Protein Bar, find a Protein Powder you like. Go online and look for sample sizes. Good luck!

You're welcome. Just remember first and foremost is your health. That Protein is so important. Just don't do the shots. The collagen Protein won't absorb good enough. I haven't had surgery yet but I'm sure I'll be asking all sorts of questions when I do.

It is hard at first! I'm working on it still. The key is to get Protein powders that are plain and use things to make them better. I use Torani sugar free syrups, there are like 30 flavors and you can make a ton of combinations. I had trouble with the shakes at first and the hospital had me on Carnation instant Breakfast and beneprotein. It was awful!!!! But now I make my shakes so it's great!

As far as eating....tuna and canned salmon have a lot of Protein if you like fish. You will get it I promise :)

Thank you for the ideas. What brand of unflavored do you get? I tried unjury and didn't like it at all.

I struggle too. But we just have to learn. Take it one day at a time.

I am 2 1/2 weeks post-op and found that I canhandle the unjury chicken Soup. 21 g of Protein in a cup-of-soup format worked for me while I can handle the GNC ProPerformance chocolate shakes (some of the other flavors are too sweet) they are just TOO filling.

Right now, I'm doing a shake for breakfast and dinner, and the cup of Soup for lunch.

I used the unflavored Protein in sugar-free, fat-free vanilla pudding and that wasn't bad.

I like the Unjury chicken Soup too. I get sick of the sweet Protein all the time. I am not a fan of any other unjury flavor though. I need to go to GNC or look online for different flavors.

Taste is very subjective but I enjoyed Myoplex for quite a while and the switched to Pure Protein Shakes because they're about half the calories and still quite good. My favorite flavors are the Frosty chocolate, Chocolate Mint and Cookies and Cream. When you can eat solid food again the Pure Protein Bars are IMO excellent - especially the chocolate deluxe but they have a number of other flavors that are quite good.

Oh yeah I really like the pure Protein brand protein. I've been using the powder and it's excellent. Best I've tasted so far. And their bars are delish. I had a Peanut Butter one last night that was so yummy.
