Eficka 0 Posted March 8, 2007 yep I agree with Jachut Im doing pretty well without Protein drinks, although I drink them twice a week after weightlifting with my trainer. What I do is add frozen strawberries or some fruit and it tastes much better. WATCH OUT: dont mix the powder with milk (skim milk too) or any other Protein (ice cream etc) Because then your body will not use all of the Proteins declared in the Protein shake. Why? It has something to do with protein digestion and the enzyme (pepsin) that helps to digest and use the protein. Sorry my English isnt that good to describe the process:-)

myfoursons 0 Posted March 10, 2007 Pixcess...you should check out Profect. Search for it on the internet. I drink that for my Protein. It doesn't seem like it would have dairy or soy in it, but you would have to check to be sure.

harlito 0 Posted March 22, 2007 are you using the powder or the juice powder?? I use the chocolate..and use a blender..on pulse..works fine..geri I am using the Alpine Punch/zero carbs. I bought the powder and a seperate premixed bottle. The bottle was red and clear yet the mix is coming out pink and cloudy. I don't have a blender here at the office. I was told by the salesman that it should mix right with Water, no problem. The powder looks like fine sugar, the kind that bartenders use for mixed drinks and I thought it would be OK. I am just worried that it is not mixing good enough and will get stuck.
GayleTX 1 Posted March 23, 2007 I don't think you have to worry about getting a little lump of Protein stuck.......most anything smaller than an M&M will go on through. And even if you swallow a lump it will dissovle in your pouch before it travels on thru the stoma.
puddin 7 Posted March 23, 2007 Have I got a shake for YOU! The Apex chocolate Fit drink mix tastes exactly like a milkshake - no kidding. I have always hated Protein Shakes, so has my sister. But she likes these for desert! Apparently the orange cream one is to die for, too. You can get them online at www.myapex.com.
obrien3tn 0 Posted March 25, 2007 I vote powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury. I have some sample packets. Took the vanilla, added crystal light sunrise orange, some ice,4oz milk,4oz oj,blender, yummmmmmmmmmmmmmmm I agree. I drink Unjury everyday. I use the unflavored powder. I take a 2 liter coke bottle and put 3 scoops of the unflavored pwder which is 60 grams of Protein, 1 tub of crystal light, shake it up real good, then pour it into the biggest Water bottle that is comfortable to carry around. I know I need to drink the coke bottle for the day. I will carry the water bottle around all day drinking on it then at night I will finish off what is left of the 2 liter at night while watching tv. This usually gets all my Protein in for the day. I dont eat a lot because its too uncomfortable.. I will manage to eat a little at night because thats when things go down better. Also the strawberry flavored unjury powder is really good if you will mix it like above with the strawberry crystal light tub. Very good. When I first starting drinking protein I couldnt even stand the smell of the protein but since I starting mixing it like above, I now crave it and cant stand to go a day without my protein bottle and I also get all my Water in by doing it this way. dwill 0 Posted March 25, 2007 i just started my Protein Shakes today - i had the Isopure chocolate-zero carbs-was not bad at all
HarleyNana 10 Posted March 25, 2007 I don't like Protein shakes either, I hate milk. I use rice protein like a fruit smooth. Use ice, oj, strawberries, (any type of fruit) half a banana, scoop of protein, blend/chop and you, you'd think you were at Tropical smoothie Cafe. No chocolate or vanilla taste for me. Guest ladijane3 Posted March 28, 2007 Do they have anything that tastes like buttered popcorn? I don't usually like sweet drinks/foods at all (except a little ice cream now and then), and the idea of Protein drinks for the liquid stage is yucky to me, although I will do it if I have to. What other options for Liquid Protein are there for someone who likes savory flavors best? unjury has come out with a chicken Soup flavor recently. I haven't tried it myself but someone in my nut. support group loves it. I am more of a sweet person myself. While I liked Carnation Instant Breakfast pre-op, it tasted much different when sipped slowly. So I bought some online samples and tried about a dozen different ones. www.vitalady.com and www.wlssupplies.com sell samples. www.smartforme.com gave me a couple free samples when I called. Alot I rejected because they didn't mix well, tasted gritty, or had a bad aftertaste. The ones I settled on were: Sci-Fit chocolate Marshmallow (protein concentrate) Dymastise Elite chocolate Mint (protein isolate) IDS Belgian Chocolate (protein isolate) Unjury Unflavored Syntrex Nectars Twisted cherry (protein islolate) This pretty much fits all my flavor needs. Is there any negatives to getting too much Protein? I think your body only processes about 30g of protein at a time (if i recall my nut. classes correctly) so I think its more important to worry about spreading it out over the day not so much if you're taking in too much. The rest will just leave the system, so to speak. I did meet a guy who did NOTHING but protein for 3 months straight and it wrecked his system pretty bad. I guess protein needs Calcium to be processed by the body and he wasn't taking enough in so it started leeching it from his bones. It was a scary and memorable story. Sunflower73 0 Posted March 28, 2007 I love unjury, too. I mix about half a scoop with about half a packet of Carnation Instant Breakfast and about 7 ounces of milk. It's still too much for me to drink in the mornings but when I'm feeling really restricted (but still hungry) this combo does the trick and keeps me full for a long time. I prefer the chocolate but have some unflavored on hand too to add to Soups, etc. They also have great sample/travel packs if you want to try it before committing. Unjury.com! Great stuff. The only taste I can stand!
OnlyMe 0 Posted March 30, 2007 I recently ordered a bunch of samples from unjury.com and all I can say is :wow2: The chicken broth mix (as weird as it may sound) tastes great and has no aftertaste. I also ordered vanilla, unflavored and chocolate. There are so many ways to mix this Protein powder with your foods, there is no reason not to get your daily Protein requirement. Unjury is now my favorite protein mix.
