Bert_n_ernie 60 Posted September 24, 2012 L & D RN!!! I'm burned out too! Ready for change. I originally wanted to be a nurse midwife also' date=' but that was too much like right. I'm in school right now for nursing informatics. Working and going to school not fun! Tired of 12 hour shifts but I don't know if I want to work everyday either.[/quote'] The more I think about it, the less I want to go back. My last working environment was so hostile I literally have PTSD. My last day of work there was so bad I got so upset I ended up puking in the bathroom. This man was lucid, he was only in nursing home because he was physically disabled & had no family. He was only in his 60's. He had a viral stomach flu and asked to go to E.R. well, in KS, if a ward of the state goes to er the facility eats the ambulance cost. So @ our facility we had to have DON approval to call ambulance. So, when he asked to go to hospital the DON said no. He said, please I think I'm dieing. She looked at us & said "everyone has to die sometime" sure enough he died about 9 hours later from dehydration & kidney failure, I was off shift but still felt responsible. I reported her to the state, she lost her job but had done enough burying to save her license. Everytime I think about going back I think about that & I just can't do it. I should have called then told her. New Life Started 07/24/
