Feeling Great Until Now

Recommended Posts

Well, today I lost my job. 22 years at one company and now I have to look at starting over. I've been doing pretty good since my surgery, I've felt better, had more confidence, felt like I had the world by the tail. Now all I feel is depressed. I have severence, so that will help, but what if I get to the point that I can't keep getting my adjustments? I fought so hard to get this and if I get to the point where I can't use it I don't know what I'll do.

Just need to ask for prayers. My husband is disabled and can't work, so I was the main bread winner. At my age, I don't know how easy it is going to be to start over. Just hoping for good thoughts and prayers from all.

Thanks

Try and be positive and don't give up - good things will come. I believe that all things happen for a reason. Maybe losing this job was to give you the opportunity to move on and find something better. I'll keep you in my prayers.

That is terrible news. I'm really sorry you are going through this. It's OK to feel bad right now. But, keep your head up high and stay positive. You'll find a new job and who knows, it might just be the best job you've ever had!

Thank you so much. I have always tried to believe that God wouldn't give me more than I can handle. I guess I'm still in shock. 22 years is a lot of life to spend in one place, then have it end out of the blue. You're all right, there's just got to be an opportunity just waiting for me out there (atleast I hope so). The prayers will definately help.

Hey there, just think, at least you still have a roof over your head. Same thing happened to my mom a few years ago. Unfortunetly, it didnt end good for us, we lost our house in foreclosure due to not being able to pay house payments, and my parents eventually had to file bankruptcy. Its not the worst thing in the world that could happen to you. There are people in the world, living near sewer Water, having no clothes, and no roof over their head. Im sure you are sitting in a nice house, with nice clothes, and you surely arent living near raw sewerage. Just dont sweat the small stuff, you could be living in a box on the street corner ya know. Not trying to be mean, just saying, there are people worse off then you, so what if you cant get adjustments on your band, at least your still alive right?

There is always a reason....and God has a plan for you, believe it!! I was downsized in August. Had a small severence and was starting to panic, then I prayed for guidance and thanked God for what I DID have. What did He want me to do, where did HE want to be. Then, family tragedy struck, with a terminal illness... Well, now being unemployed I am able to go to my sister who lives out of state and care for her as she faces a terrible ordeal with brain cancer. She just lost her son not two months ago and is facing an even tougher battle with this cancer. So I know that this was the plan God had for me. And I will take on this challenge, knowing that when one door closes, another one opens. And God can do amazing things. Now my sister will not have to face this illness alone or with strangers. Hang in there, pray for guidance, and have faith. You will know what to do when the time comes. God Bless. Oh, and don't worry about your band.....God knows, and will help you through that too!!

This may be a worn out cliche but when one door closes another one opens. Maybe this will be a brand new start to the second half of your life. Are you able to apply for COBRA coverage? If so, you will still be covered for your fills.

I wish you the best of luck and as everyone else said, keep the faith, because God does provide. Sometimes we just didn't know what we needed to be provided with.

I am sorry about the loss of your job. Just remember we are here for you. Get your resume together and hit the pavement. You can do this. Good luck with your weight loss. At least you have that going for you right now. Keep the faith.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
