They say you can have chicken broth. Do they mean buy chicken broth? Drink it or do you put a cube cubito de pollo & boil it with Water. I bought chicken broth but it taste nasty. Should I add water but it says don't add water. Idk what I'm suppose to do.

Not all chicken broth is created equal.. especially the store bought kind. I've bought some that were down right nasty before. Have you tried making a batch of your own? I wonder if you could use chicken broth strained from chicken Soup? That might be a better flavor for you.

I bought the swonson brand. I don't like it. I'm gonna try the cube but I did get the right stuff right?

The problem with broths too.. is the sodium level so be sure to check that. As far as if you bought the right stuff.. I would think if it said chicken broth.. it was.. but it might not have tasted that great because it may have been more geared toward cooking with it (like holiday cooking.. large birds etc). Swanson might not be a good brand for sipping. I usually make my own broths so not sure how much help I can be with recommending specific brands but I know the cubes tend to have a lot of sodium so if you go that route.. get the low sodium ones :)

How do you make it? I love cooking so I'm good with picking up recipes quickly.

I don't really have a recipe.. I used to make my own when I was on broths after I had lap band.. then I continued to make it when I knew I would need larger batches when cooking. I take all the makings of soup.. veggies.. meat.. spices.. etc.. and cook it all together and then strain out the liquid. When you get to mushies.. you can use the veggies from the Soup and smash them/puree them up etc.

You gave me a great idea :) I can make a big batch chicken Soup Sunday's & separate the broth for me & put it in freezer last longer for the week. Plus I think liquid diet after surgery is only 2 weeks right? I follow everything the surgeon writes. I want to be skinny so bad LMFAO

You can put the broth into ice cube trays and once it is frozen.. put the cubes in a freezer bag. Since you will only be able to do little bits at a time you can grab a couple cubes.. heat them up and there is no waste :) I did that for my kids when I made them baby food and since them I do it with most liquids I want to freeze

For something different, you can also make vegetable beef and strain it. Homemade definitely has less salt.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
