I too am going to Dr Evanson at St Vincent's in Carmel. I did the psych eval with Dr Stote and found out that day I was recommended without any other hoops from him. I did find out I had to do a 6 month diet so I am anxiously doing that with my family doctor.

I just want the time to go by quickly so I can get this done and over with.

Dr. Evanson rocks! Just remember when you go for your PcP for your weight in's. To keep everything weight loss related. If you take to him about being sick or whatever than insurance won't count that month!!

He seems like a great doctor. I mostly met with his PA when I was down there. I actually am not taking any chances with my visits I am seeing two doctors just to cover all my bases and my butt. I finally have coverage for surgery and it will be done. I'm tired of being severely overweight

I have two insurances, the first is Anthem BCBS (they don't cover squat) I also have the Indiana Medicaid (since I'm off in the summers I qualify).

I got the phone call from Hancock Regional saying my testing is for the 26th which is next Thursday. What can I expect they said I have a bunch of tests then I have to meet with a doctor in the afternoon. I don't really know why I have to meet one of their doctors so can anyone explain this to me? Will he decide if I have surgery and give me a date or will I need to still go back to the bariatric center for that?

I won't see my surgeon again until surgery day. If I didn't work a friggin day today I could have called them back and got my date today, but by the time I got the message they were closed :( I work all morning monday, till 3, so I'll have to rush home (30 min trip) and try to catch them before they close on Monday and hopefully I will get a date then.

Yup. I was actually calling to get my class date. I was told it'd prob be Monday before I got a surgery date but figure they prob only do the classes 2-3 times a month and they schedule them so its not like they find an opening persay like with the surgery. Either there is a class scheduled that hasn't been filled or there isn't. So, I was calling about the class. When they called me back they mentioned the surgery date on the message (not the actual date but just that they were calling to schedule a surgery date). I wonder if classes are surgeon specific like the orientations were??

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
