I live in the Terre haute area. I got my first appointment. W/ Dr. Evanson at st. Vincent in Carmel on Monday.

Hi!! I am going to Evanson also!! I had my psych evaluation this past Thursday and go to the big 4 hour day on Monday. How did your approval process go? Did you have to jump thru any hoops?

Kinda down about things right now. The whole process has been a big waiting game and its got me disappointed. I did my consult and met the psychiatrist the same day and had to wait almost a month to even find out what my recommendations were. Then in my letter it stated I needed to register for the lifestyle discovery class plus attend some support groups. Which was fine I had already done the class and I registered for the class which was 7 weeks out. I then found out that I couldn't submit to insurance until I completed it which upset me bc the letter of recommendations said just register for it. Well I waited the 7 weeks and did the class and they said they would submit at that point after they got the results that I attended the class and even after a week of waiting they still have not updated the info so I still have yet to submit. This seems to me a while to wait. And I also heard from a girl in the class she was allowed to do blood work that day which is my next step but I was told I couldn't until after being submitted to insurance. It's just bothering me that I try to do everything for them quickly and with every step there are 4 hurdles to jump through on their part. Has anyone else had this happen at st Vincent Carmel?

My approval was easy. I knew with in 1 wo I was approved. No hoops. My insurance policy does not require a 6month diet.

See I don't have to do 6 mo either mine is a preapproved surgery w medicare its just been a hassle w st Vincent's. it seriously feels like they just do not want to do the surgery. They did say once submitted to medicare it only takes one to two weeks for approval. Then I go for blood work and get my date and do one last class. What I hear though is that she has a 2 month waiting list from time u get your date to when u have surgery.

Me :) I am going to IU North Bariatric. My Doctor is Daniel McKenna. I was approved for surgery last week, but I don't have a surgery date yet. I have to go through my pre-op class and testing before I get my date.

Awesome! I was beginning to think nobody on here was going to IU since everyone on this thread mentioned other places. They haven't told me what all I have to do as far as testing... what did you have to do? Have you done your class yet?

This morning I got EKG, pulse test, blood drawn for labs, urine test , blood pressure, chest X-ray and then the last thing was to speak with hospitalist. He gives you clearance for surgery.

My insurance previously was approved.

NOW, test results go to Dr Mattar (same office as your doc) and then the surgery date will be set. PLUS the all day workshop/class date will be set. I am hoping by Friday if this week, I will get a call regarding dates. Do you live near Indy?

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
