First Social Outing Think I Did Ok

Recommended Posts

For mothers day we went to a nearby steakhouse. I'm only 5 1/2 weeks post-op so I opted for a small salmon fillet grilled with only salt and pepper al a cart. It was good.....the whole three bites! Lol Well at least I have lunch and dinner for tomorrow. It was hard to watch everyone enjoying the salads and warm bread and prime rib......but I think I did well. Its amazing how fear of dumping or causing harm to yourself makes you stay on track. Lol

I went out to dinner today too. I had pork hops and mashed potatoes. I didn't eat much but I enjoyed myself. Like you I have lunch and dinner for tomorrow.

Yeah I have been out to eat quite a few times and I won't order food for myself I always share with someone who won't eat their whole meal by themselves and let's get real those places serving sizes are huge and so many people wonder why most of America is overweight! It's great that you could go out to eat with all the things you used to love but stayed on course....congrats that is awesome!!

I went out on Saturday night & I ordered off the kids menu! The portion sizes are still quite big for us but at least I wasn't paying $20 for a meal I took 2 bites of!!

How did you convince them 2 let you get a kids meal?

I'm not sure really- I ordered a salad and kids meal & asked them to bring a box out with my meal. They did without arguing so I wasn't going to explain! Lol. I would have if needed!

My doctor gave me a card that says I can order off the kids menu or they have to discounts meal price. So far most places except it

Sharing is a great idea vamplover85.. hubby and I try to do that now to cut down on our portion sizes. We went to TGI Fridays the other day and me, hubby, and both the kids shared 1 meal and STILL have some food left.. it's insane the portion sizes that you get.

I got that card too that says I am allowed. It's kinda neat! I took my bro out to Breakfast the other day and had like 2 bites of an all white omelette...,it didn't play nice but I was only 2.5 weeks out of surgery. Last night and this morning I had lobster tail....now THAT'S a Breakfast of champions! Lol

My surgeon's office gave it to me when I went to my followup appointment

Do you ask your surgeon for a card to be able to order off a kids menu at a restaurant or what? I never heard of this but it sounds interesting.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
