I thought I'd start a thread for this and if anyone is willing to share their excess skin pics it would be great for those who are worried about it!

I'm going to share both my arms and my stomach which are the 2 areas that I'm most unhappy with! It takes a lot of courage to post these and I'm so nervous in doing so! But for those that don't know my starting weight was 247, highest weight ever was 250, I am now 180 and 17 weeks post op (4th month) out and 70 lbs gone still have 60 more lbs to go!!

Here goes nothin'

arms aren't that bad but still I hate them

Stomach is what you see it's not hanging or sagging yet and hopefully won't and doesn't have a whole lot of extra skin

Are you planning on getting plastic surgery? You actually don't look bad.

Yeah at this point I don't think mine is bad enough to even be considered for plastic surgery!

Maybe insurance will cover it. Have you asked? Yours does not look as bad though.

No insurance company cover plastic surgery. Some insurance cover excess skin removable but it has to be extremely huge like you have a huge stach down your leg something like that other then that you will pat out of pocket or make monthly payment.

I got the firming cream & I use it once in a while before surgery. I'll use it more after surgery.

Lol, you are right, they do not call it plastic surgery. But you are wrong about how much has to be there. I have been approved to have the skin removed from my tummy and as you can tell by my after picture, I do not have a stach down my leg lol. You do have to show you have problems like chafed skin or rashes under it. I have also been approved for a breast reduction and lift. All for a 100 dollar copay. There are ways to get approved.

Really? My surgeon told me flat out. Your insurance don't cover excess skin removable. So I'm trying to save every penny for surgery. I know for a fact that my stomach is gonna be yuck & my boobs are yuck as ut is so it will only get more yuck after the weight starts melting off & my arm another yuck body part. Sorry if I sound crazy but I hate my body.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
