As anyone in here had surgery with tips/artificial nails? If so did they want your polish off or did they say nothing or something?

I'm having surgery on Wednesday and I wear tips they didn't tell me anything about them just leave the jewelry at home and gave me an antibacterial soap to bathe with.so no I don't think it should be a problem

Usually the problem is the color. The pulse ox cant "see" through the color.

I've worn nails for close to 30 years and had my surgery with them on. I also had on hot pink polish on ny toes with rhinestones. It's not a problem.

Thanks ladies.. I had 3 kids with tips & nail polish & it wasn't a problem.

Now I'm like being told there might be an issue with my nails & I told the surgeon I'm not removing my nails or nail polish.

No, there won't be a problem with the nails, you just can't wear any metal, or wigs with metal in it.

How much weight do you have left to lose before the surgery if you don't mind me asking? I have some tips. I was nervous about that too, because my surgery was 2 weeks after Thanksgiving lol. I was afraid they were going to cancel my surgery before I got to the operating table lol. But I came within 3 lbs of the goal the surgeon set for me. I was soooo relieved the day of my surgery lol.

I think it depends on the surgeon. Mine told me no polish.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
