I just got home from the hospital in Thursday, and so far, im doing amazingly well. I have no drainage from my incisions and I don't have any signs of high blood sugar either!! So blessed. :0)

But im afraid im not getting enough liquids in everyday ..

I have eaten 4 oz cup of beef broth overall today. 1/2 glass of Isopure. Sipping Water. Ate 2 -3 popcicles. Im so scared, I m not doing great on my hydration.

From what I'm reading sounds good. Glad you had no issues. Are you taking all the Vitamins?

Creamy soups were like heaven to me! After awhile you get tired of all the sweet shakes and want salty. That first bite of cream of mushroom Soup was AMAZING!!!

I'm having a heck of a time, too. If I can get down a 16 oz bottle of Water, half of another one, a s.f. Jello and a popsicle, I've done good. I am having trouble with the shakes. It seems either the shakes or the water. What's more important.

Also, I forgot to get some info on this. Someone had posted that we weren't supposed to drink 30 minutes before we eat. I knew that were no supposed to during or 30 minutes after, but I hadn't heard the 30 before,...anyone? Anyone know how to make a decent hot chocolate from the Protein Drinks. Any help is appreciated

They gave me a book with my surgery kit and it says in there not to drink 30 min before or after. As for hot chocolate if you have a glass blender, heat the Water to desired temp and then pour the chocolate powder and hot Water in and blend.

Thanks! I was hoping there was something I could do to make it not quite so gross.

I was also told to stop drinking 30 minutes before and 30 minutes after. It's strange how we're all told different things to do with every part of this surgery lol. My first two week diet was nothing but hot Cereal, strained cream Soup and fat free cottage cheese. It's not until my 2-4 week period of a puréed diet that they told me to stop drinking 30 mins before

30 minutes before and after you eat, but I will admit I've never done this!

I was told only with meals and then wait for 39 minutes after a meal.

It is funny how we were all told something different! I was told not to drink 30 mins before and wait an hour after to drink.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
