Tried beef Jerky for the first time today! And it was a complete success! It was easy to chew, lean, and full of protein! It was even peppered..mmmm! My new favorite snack.< /p>

For dinner I had a small cup of shrimp cocktail [minus the shrimp] im not too big on seafood. But the soupy stuff and the veggies...Yummy, too! What a good day, opposed to others where everything makes me sick :)

Yay! I was wondering about jerky. My friend sent me a website with great jerky.

www.healthysnackin.com. You should eat the shrimp! Great protein!

I had my surgery Feb 15th... I was scared to try too! but I did just fine. just make sure it's not too dry, and it's chewy and soft. I tried a different brand the second time, and BOY Did I regret it! lol

if you decide to try it make sure you chew very well. good luck! :)

I've loved Jerky since before surgery now my problem is if its to dry. I also want to look into making my own that way more flavors and always on hand.

A friend told me she would just chew it and spit it out when she was post op... Hvnt tried that though I'm scared

You guys might want to try turkey Jerky. I didn't even know there was such a thing until I ran across Pacific Gold Teriyaki Turkey Jerky completely by accident at costco. About the same calories, fat and Protein as beef jerky but much more moist and tender. Amazon has it as well. Very tasty!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
