DLCoggin 1,788 Posted May 11, 2012 Just had my surgery Monday. Any thoughts on non-narcotic pain management, liquid diet ideas or when I'll have some energy? Tylenol gets the nod for pain management. Be careful to avoid anything with ibuprofen (e.g. Advil and others) or NSAIDS (e.g. Alleve) because of concerns regarding developing ulcers or other inflamation. Likely too early for Protein shakes just yet but when the time comes I like Pure Protein or Myoplex. Energy should start to return in a week or two. Congratulations on the surgery!! crystalcdbailey 13 Posted May 11, 2012 Make sure you take your Vitamins. Very important. I had surgery a week and a half ago. I am still trying to get my strength back. Good luck to you.

ekelly23 0 Posted May 12, 2012 Thank you!!! Part of me is so happy I took this step and part of me thinks what did you get into. Purely based on pain. Not food at all. I guess I'm a wuss. I'll feel better about it when I can walk up right and get myself in and out of bed. Thanks everyone for the support. Glad I'm not alone.
Neen 3 Posted May 12, 2012 Hi there. I'm brand news to this forum, and only had my surgery on Tuesday this week (8th May). Still getting my head around everything. I'm not hungry but they didnt disconnect my nose! Still in pain from the laparoscopic surgery, and just got out of hospital yesterday. Notice this morning that I had dropped 3lb 8oz since surgery - 5 days ago. This is exciting and a little scary. I was told yoghurt (fat free) was good for meals, and puréed Soups with Protein content. Nurse said Protein shakes are fine now. But drink over 20 mins, not to snack all day. Before the op I used to drink sparkling mineral Water, does anyone know if that is still alright? Or do the bubbles upset our new tummies?

Neen 3 Posted May 12, 2012 Thanks. I wasn't sure. My partner keeps buying the type I used to drink. Think if I open it and let it go flat before I drink. And ask him to stop buying them for me now.
