This has been a long road. I tried for this surgery 7 years ago but lost too much weight and they denied it.So I went back last August and after all the classes and everything and losing only 10 pounds (was afraid to lose too much this time) I was told my surgery might not get approved cause I lost too little! Ugh... Anyway they did approve it, but daily I have this fear that they will change their mind. It was horrible when they called me and told me they had to push the surgery back a week, but at least it wasn't canceled.

Now I worry I will fail and not lose the weight or gain it back. How do I cope with the constant fear I can't really share with my spouse (just don't want him to worry) and move forward? I read so much of people losing so slowly it seems like nothing or of people gaining it all back in a few years. Ugh... I've wanted this for so Iong.

I think we've all been told that the surgery is a tool and it is possible to defeat the surgery without lifestyle changes. Perhaps what's most important to remember is that the surgery makes those lifestyle changes much easier. Not easy, but easier. I do every thing I possibly can to keep my focus on following the protocol and letting the weight take care of itself. In essence the protocol is the lifestyle change. It seems to me that a little worry is healthy. Most of my fears were greatly reduced or eliminated all together once I got into the post-op stage of the journey. When I look back on all the pre-op worry and anxiety I had almost all of it was completely unfounded. Unfortunately it's hard to wrap your arms around that until you experience it. My best suggestion for you is to keep reading all of the information you'll see here!

Thanks for the support I just keep telling myself I can do this! I actually went to the thrift store and bought a variety of clothes to shrink down to (18 to 20) in 24/26 and have a few 22s lying around, as a motivation. That was fun and my husband went with me and helped chose some stuff!

I think we all have had those feelings. I have. My surgery was a "re-do" from many many years ago. I'm not young. I think all of the fears and concerns are normal. I know I have to keep telling myself that this is just a tool and to use it wisely. I do the best I can. I don't get everything in everyday like I should,m but I just do the best I can, Just yell if you need something. These are the best group of people, ever!!

Thanks for all the support! I'm in a good place today but I also know I'll bounce back and forth as the date gets closer, so I will come back and reread all your comments! 23 days and counting - yay

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
