the first 2 weeks after surgery were fine...I lost 23 lbs......now I am in my 3rd week and I am hungry all the time and have gained 2 lbs back....the ounce of food 3 times a day and Protein Drinks and Water don't get me full. I have that rumbling in my tummy saying feed me.....and it is not in my head....although I do get a headache if I don't eat something.....I don't understand why, I thought that hungry feeling would go away atleast for a little while....even after I eat I feel hungry...I am worried that something else is wrong.....could I have a leak or something worse?? What am I doing wrong? I shouldn't feel like I am hungry especially right after I eat....

I'm doing better but yes, I am hungry....I am able to eat 1.5 oz of Protein and fruits and veggies now so I had a slice of pinapple this morning and one this afternoon and that helped allot. I have lost more weight, a total of 27 lbs as of Monday. I think I was sick with a cold before and that is why I thought I felt hungry when really it was a stomach virus....I am better now except I have always got Migraines and I seem to have to take a Migraine pill every day (normally around 4 or 5:00 in the afternoon) and I think that is from being tired and hungry....yes, this diet is very hard, but we can do it! I had my surgery on 4/18 so I am 4 weeks out today. When was your surgery and how are you doing?

Hang in there...l am experiencing similar things. I had surgery on april 12. I have no problem eating. The fullness l thought l would feel l dont always feel. I make a conscious decision to stop eating. Some foods have made me sick like Peanut Butter. Sometimes l think may eat too fast and dont give myself a chance to feel full. Beside the weight loss sometimes l dont feel like l had the surgery. I have a difficult time getting all my fluids in. I have to get into a better routine. You mentioned headaches...that could be a side effect of not drinking enough. Good luck!

I am the same way ! I think I could chow down because I don't get the full feeling. I just make a conscience effort to stop.

Yes, Vamp. I'm not quite 3 weeks post op and I never got tat full feeling. I wish I did. I just have to be very careful, and it's kind of discouraging this early in the process.

Vamp- what do you consider "slider" foods? I hear everyone talk about them but no clue what they are!

I agree sometimes the headaches are just not drinking enough Fluid. Don't understand slider food? What's that?

I also don't get the full feeling but if I don't make a conscience effort to stop I will get the yuck i dont feel good feeling. I'm still learn what my new tummy can do.

Slider foods are like crackers, pretzels, tortilla chips and such. They're called sliders because they slide fight through your pouch without giving you that full feeling. Its best to avoid them

Yogurt is a good source of Protein, though. I buy the sugar free, fat free which is like 80 calories.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
