Last night I looked at my toungue and discovered I have developed thrush yuck!!!

Did a little research online and apparently its caused by all the antibiotics pumped into you during and after surgery. Waiting for the nurse to call me back from surgeons office to see if they can just phone me in a prescription or something. Feels so gross and uncomfortable!

Please tell me I'm not the only one that this has happened to. Its so gross and embarrassing!

I had it. I didn't think of calling the doctor. I just scraped my tongue in the morning and at nite before I brushed. Eventually it went away.

Apparently it's pretty common after large doses of antibiotics. Surgeons office phoned in a prescription for me right away and I am swishing with something the consistency of raw scrambled eggs 4 times a day for a few days, yuck!

Funny thing is I was commenting the other day on how great and clean and white my teeth looked because I haven't eaten solid food in 3 weeks. Ironic...

Yeah it's definitely no fun at all I got no sleep for the 2 weeks after my surgery because I itched so bad! It was a nightmare and not only did I have a yeast infection all over my skin but I also was allergic to the dermabond they used to close my incisions and so all of my incisions were red and swollen too!

It's not really raw scrambled eggs LOL It just looks and feels like it. Swish and spit 4 times a day. It's nasty.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
