So I need to vent a bit. Feeling. Some buyers remorse today. Monday it will be 2 weeks since surgery. Still only on liquids and ensure. Wishing I could go out to dinner tonight. Does it get easier? Or more importantly more normal??

Kelly- I'm only a week ahead of you; and just last week I was felling the same way as you. I was very down about not being able to enjoy meals out with my boyfriend and family. I too was doubting myself for having the surgery. I have to say I'm feeling a lot better this week. My nutritionist has given me the green light to start some soft foods. I am feeling closer to normal now and see a light at the end of this seemingly never ending liquids tunnel lol. Just keep in mind this liquid phase is just that.. A phase. Little by little normalcy will return to your life. Just follow your doctors directions and know you are taking care of your body the best you can.

Hang in there it will get better!

Thanks so much Mary. That does help. It's hard and I wanted to go out with my boyfriend tonight and I keep reminding myself in due time. The liquid phase seems never ending! I get a few soft foods next week. Everyone says it will be worth it. I hope so! I never wanted to fast forward time like I do know! How is it going for you? Any issues?

No real issues yet..I actually went out to dinner tonight with my bf and his family to Celebrate a family bday and was able to order off the menu! Of course I couldn't have the cake or other goodies but I feel like its a small sacrifice to pay now for a huge pay off in my health later. It also felt good to get so many compliments about my weight loss already.

Like I said I just look at each phase of eating as just that a phase. I'm learning so much about eating and hunger through these phases. I believe it will better prepare me for when I can eat more in the future... It is helping me learn to not over eat.

Just have patience with yourself! Keep your chin up.

From people I have talked to including my surgeon, it will eventually. I think it takes about a year.

Hang in there! My doc let me go home on soft foods. Been making scrambled eggs, pureeing chicken, cottage cheese with fruit. Kinda good. I was watching a movie Saturday night with my husband & told him I miss Papa Johns with cocktails while we watch a movie. We still had fun. Have to separate food with good times. Good times are still to be had & food choices will increase. Can't wait for grilled shrimp, chicken, etc just in smaller amounts.

Hi! I had the same feeling at two weeks. I'm only 4 weeks post-op and once puree diet began it got alot better.....then you can start experimenting with different flavors and mushy foods! pudding with sugar free cool whip, spinach dip and cheese in eggs, sweet potatoes whipped....all kinds of stuff to help you feel some kind of food satisfaction. I think every few weeks it gets a little bit better=] good luck!

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
