mgh1965 0 Posted May 19, 2007 Hey woodguy, I was banded on the 15th... not pleased to hear that you still have shoulder pain. It's very annoying, isn't it ? Especially trying to sleep.< /p> Cheers Mark Brisbane - Australia
harlito 0 Posted May 19, 2007 James, At the moment you only have the band in with no fill - there is no real restriction. This is why it is so important to get your fills ASAP. You will find that after the initial swellin and healing is over you will be able to pretty much eat what you did before. I don't think you would want this. So my advice is to get that initial fill right away and go from there. Hi, I am glad I found this site and this thread. Thanks for starting it. The site I was at was pretty small. I got my band on 05/11/07 at University General Hospital here in Houston. I have been on a liquid diet. I think I have lost about 8-10lbs in that weeks period and was a little surprised that I have not been nauseated. It seems I have no problem downing an 8 ounce protine drink at one time. The way the written material I was given said I would be lucky to drink one or two ounces at a time?? Any one else had this experience?
bigsexy 0 Posted May 20, 2007 :clap2: Turns out my wait for approval was my case being sent to the wrong department at the insurance co. Once the bariatric group got it i was approved in less than 15 min!!!!!! I'm sort of in a happy and disappointed. Happy because i am approved and the surgery will take place after my trip to germany. Disappointed because i have to wait until June 27th. Oh well I have waited this long what is another month. wish me luck!!!!
woodguy 0 Posted May 21, 2007 mgh1965, The shoulde pain is a real drag. I had to go home early from work Friday. I learned atrick from Deanna(shrinking violet) on the pre/post board though. It helps a lotwith the shoulder pain. Get on hands and knees. Butt high, chin on the ground. I take it a step further by kneeling on an ottoman with my nose on the ground. Supposedly it gets gas bubbles away from the diaphram (sp?) which relieves the pain (most times) in about a minute. I know it sounds idiotic but it has helped me a lot. ousooner 1 Posted May 22, 2007 Hi guys. Looks like everyone is doing good. Here are new before and after pics. THe before pic was on taken at work and was kind of the straw that broke the camels back. After seeing how fat I had become in that pic, I decided to get banded. Notice I have on the same tie. Pre-op, I bareley had enough for the back piece and it wouldn't fit through the loop. Now its almost too long.

redstrat 0 Posted May 22, 2007 How do you guys do it - i'm waiting for approval to be banded but my dr keeps telling me that i will not lose more than 1-2 lbs a week. Redstrat you have lost an incredible 7lbs a week!!!!! Congratulations. I was under the impression that with purly restrictive surgeries like the lapband the weight will come off slower. Keep up the great work CAN"T WAIT TILL I BECOME BANDED:clap2: I have to be honest. I lost weight really quickly the first few weeks and then it slowed down to 4-5 lbs a week.(usually 4lbs) Excercise is a big part of it. I walk 4 times a week and maintain a 1200-1400 calorie diet. I think that is the key to my success. The good news is that I feel great and have tons of energy. I am off of my blood pressure medication and my cholestrol is 180. Im sure my weight loss will slow down and thats ok. You have to remember we are all different and lose at different speeds. The main thing is that you are losing weight everyweek. Jersey Jesse 0 Posted May 22, 2007 Redstrat - thats exactly how it was for me. I haven't had a fill yet to date either and I still continue to lose weight, although much slower than before.
bigsexy 0 Posted May 22, 2007 wow jesse no fill almost makes it seem like the band wasnt necessary. when did you have your surgery? could you please supply a typical menu for the day - My nutritionist wants me to be in that caloric intake range. Also if you guys wouldnt mind providing typical work out routines etc. do you all work out alone or with someone? anything you think will help me get to be a success story such as yourselves would be great
