Cory,

Is that correct that youv'e lost 91 lbs without a fill? Wow... Did you have restriction?

I'm getting my first fill next Thursday. Have to use a lot of will power to set the ol' fork down and say "full". You've done it for months! Amazing...

I was very conscience of when i was getting full. As soon as i felt myself gettting full i would stop eating. By the time I had lost the sensation of getting full I was used to eating a certain amount.

honestly, I think i could have lost quite a bit more by now but I've been pretty lax about exercise. Betweeen going to school full time, working full time the wife and a 2 yr old, it's been a struggle to find time to work out.

When I first looked into banding I spent alot of time on this board...reading mostly, seldom posting. Then I got my band (7/17/06, Elmer Valin, St Ray's, New Haven, CT) and was on every moment. Things have gone really well and I find myself on here less and less but I am very happy to find this all male thread!

Tarami - How did things go with Valin? His office is great and you are in good hands at St. Ray's. Let me know if you have any questions.

I finally made it. I was banded this morning. Love the hospital has wireless internet access. It hurts a lot but I did it. That was a huge hurdle. First day of the rest of my life!!!

Been home since about 5:30 last night. Port is pretty painful, but the gas pains have decreased a bunch. Ate some SF Jello a bit ago. All in All I don't feel too bad now that I have gotten some rest.

Thanks all

Chris

Hey Ted,

I think you'll find that 1 real egg is really filling. I had 1 scrambled egg with a slice of cheese this past saturday at 8am and it kept me filled well past lunch! I couldn't belive it.

Right on Chris. My port is still a bit tender 2 weeks post op, but not too bad. Walking will help work that gas out, and Gas-X can help. I also found that the heating pad on my shoulders really helped with the discomfort.

Congrats Chris and Jonathan!!! After the next couple days, you'll start feeling a lot better. Get your sleep in, but the walking is very important too.

Welcome aboard!!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
