jessicamiller4889 9 Posted May 15, 2012 Hey I ride and show quarter horses!! Well I use to but with my weight I stopped. I felt bad for my gelding haha. I had gastric bypass on may 8th. I've lost 11 pds so far and can't wait to ride again!!! That's one of my reasons for doing this surgery. I want to just step up into the saddle and not have to find a stool or a sloop to help me. How about you?? Sent from my iPhone using RNYTalk
dee 1 Posted May 15, 2012 I have two horses, a quarter horse gelding, 10 yo and a 8 yo warm blood mare. I had a percheron mare that was my riding horse. I had my surgery September 2011, I had the surgery so I could ride again. I lost my percheron three Weeks after surgery to a clostridium infection. My heart is still broken. I have Lost 118 lbs and just starting to realize all the stuff I can do again! Including riding my little quarter horse. He is only 14.2, but built like a Mac truck. I haven't really ridden regularly in 20 years, working my way up to riding my mare! 1 berniec reacted to this
jessicamiller4889 9 Posted May 15, 2012 That's amazing. I'm sorry about your loss. I just sold my aqha gelding to a show home. I quit riding him cause I felt bad. So I sold him cause he loves to work. My sister rides and shows a 3yr old mare western pleasure. I'm going to be riding a 14 yr old apha solid mare. She was my first horse. I'm taking her out of retirement and going to show her until I'm down enough to get A yearling to train. I would love to make it to the American quarter horse congress !! That's my overall goal.
