Not Losing Weight After Surgery

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone!! I had the surgery almost 3 weeks ago, and I have only lost 10 pounds. I can't hardly eat anything, I am drinking my Water, and I am also taking my Protein and my Vitamins. I also walk for 40 minutes EVERY day, but I still don't see results. Am I doing something wrong? Other than that I fell great, I have lots of energy and I can pretty much do any activity I want. However I am scared that I will not loose the weight. Is this common?

I just had the surgery a couple of months ago and went through the same thing at about 3 weeks and I totally panicked. . I was told it is completely normal. And then one day my body decided to catch up. Currently down almost sixty lbs total. Hang tight- it gets better.

Don't worry it will come off just keep doing what your doing. I am not quite three weeks post and down six lbs. i have noticed that i am losing inches. I know its fustrating to see other folks that at this point have lost 20 to 25 lbs. just remember we are all different and each experience will be different. This is why i am not discourage. Much continued success to you!!

Thanks everyone for the support!! I really needed to read stuff like this. My sister had the surgery about six months ago, and she already lost about 80 pounds, so on top of everything I have all my family asking me why am I not loosing the same way she did? And really all I can say to them is that everybody is different! I only wish I knew the answer to that :-) but thanks to you guys I will stay positive and I will definitely keep you posted when those horrible pounds start to come off!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
