Hi

My name is Janine and I had Gastric Bypass surgery late last year, in Oct. I have struggled with it in that I can eat a small meal after my surgery and I am not sure that it is all working properly. I don't understand how I can eat far more than I expected. I am sitting on a stalemate at the moment. I haven't lost any significant weight and feeling disillusioned at the moment. I would like to know what I am doing wrong if anything and if not, then how do I navigate these issues to place myself in the position that I can lose weight again.

thank you for reading,

Janine

Hey Janine,

Thanks for recommending me here, there is heaps if information. Crazy that you aren't feeling restricted. I seen Lou eat the other week and she was picking at food like a bird and was so full. She was explaining to me that everyone's RNY feels different and some people have blockages etc. have you had anything like that?

I'm only 5 weeks postop, but I can't eat the amount they say you should be able to handle. Right now they say I should be able to have 1/2 cup of food. I'm lucky if I eat 2 bites of food. I feel extremely full and feel sick if I take an additional bite. Have you spoken to your doctor?

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
