Hello,

I have been considering baratric surgery for some time now. I have been overweight for about 10 years. After I had my son, I never lost the baby weight, and I just kept getting bigger and bigger. I love to eat out. I love to snack..n all the bad stuff. I have tried everything under the sun to lose weight. I just have such a hard time staying motivated. I went to Jenny craig, I was on a Protein diet with my doctor, I went to the gym and paid for a personal trainer. I got to be so sore, I just gave up, and the bigger I got the harder it is to do things. I woke up one morning, after working all night, my whole body hurt, my legs were completely swollen and I just cried! I had enough! This is insane what I am putting my body and myself thru, so after I lined up all the pills I take every morning, I just felt sick! I called into work and cried all day! I called my local hospital and go into a seminar. I filled out the paper work right away and have taken the first few steps. I really hope the insurance approves me. I just want to be healthy I am too young for this. I know worse things are ahead of me, and I can only imagine how my insides feel, if my outsides are always hurting. Going to keep my fingers crossed I approved for this surgery. I am sooo ready to make some permanent life style changes!! I am just FED UP!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
