Know I Want This Done But So On Edge

Recommended Posts

I am a single mom of 3 and know i want surgery but i am freaking out about how i am going to take care of my kids and house after sergery. I just need a friend to go through it with me.

I have my mom 1 hour away & my sister 1 hour away also. My sister will be staying in my house for the two days I stay in the hospital. I also have a 15 year old daughter who will be in charge if getting her 3 year old sister & 2 year old brother ready for school in the morning until I can lift & such.

I used to have OCD when my younger kids came into the family tree lolz I almost lost my mind. The mess+ diapers I got some help (doctor) I realize I will no longer have a perfectly clean home so I went with the flow. Now I'm getting a little OCD but not as much. I'm in control. I just clean when they sleep. In other words your chores won't go no where. It will wait for you. Just don't forget to do laundry at least 2 days before surgery or the night before. Laundry will drive me nuts but thanks god my daughter learn to wash clothes.

I had gastric bypass 8 years ago when my first daughter was two and i dont regret it in any way. My heath has improved and my life. I have the energy to keep up with my kids. I now live my life insted of never wanting to go out . Also i use to have depression but for some reason looseing the weight has resolved that issue. Prior to surgery i weighed 270 ils and now i am 148 ils. 3 years ago ihad my second child and was so scared of the weight gain and if the baby would get enough nutrients to grow but she is fine and the weight came off. I am not gona lie the first year was the hardest with the life style changes but if you have the surgery to become healthyer you will see it is all worth it.

Hi 4202004

Thanks for sharing your amazing story! That give me lots of hope and reaffirmation that my decision of having WLS was one of the best I had done in my life.

I really want to be a healthier individual so that I can expand my life and enjoy it w/my pressure daughter ;)

I started this journey at 265lbs, lost 20lbs during pre-op diet (245lbs) and post op 21lbs (224lbs). My surgery was 04/02/2012.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
