Recommended Posts

I was at a plateau for about 3 weeks and I weighed in yesterday and had lost 2 lbs, and weighed in today and lost 3 more pounds! Yay!!!!!!! That's a total of 55 lbs in 9 weeks! So happy I stRted losing again, I hope I continue. That plateau stage was Hell for me!

Sorry everyone, I couldn't resist getting back on that scale :(

Thanks I'm happy... Now. But this is all one big emotional roller coaster for me. You lose, then you stop for a while.... And so on and so on!

Yes the roller coaster ride is a doosie! I only lost 25 lbs my first month. I only sound so ungrateful (although I am not) because it seems as though everyone else on here is losing do much faster than me. I exercise daily. I get my Protein in and its only gonna b five weeks this Wednesday but I have friends that say they didn't plateau this soon...so I don't know what to think. Its discouraging at times....especially when you have people calling all of the time asking "well how much have you lost now?" Every other day

Panda don't feel bad I hit a plateau at about 4 weeks another around 8 weeks and now at 12 weeks this one has been the longest plateau as I've been weighing the same thing since week 12 and I'm now on week 15! I exercise 5 days a week and stick to all healthy foods! I'm seriously getting frustrated!

Everyone is different. Some lose weight fast older slower. I think slowly us better cuz you won't sag. That's what I think.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
