I haven't done the weekly weigh in but have lost 9.4kgs (20.7lbs) since I started this journey four weeks ago. And 6kgs (13.22lbs) since my op on May 8th. Weight is moving slowly' date='.... It feels like but still going down. Still got a way to go yet but excited about the changes.[/quote']

6 1/2 lbs a week is what you've lost. That's an excellent start . Not slow at all. Sometimes since we have had surgery we get unrealistic expectations...you probably still have some swelling since your only 2 weeks out. A slow steady pace gives your skin time to tighten up with you also. My Dr told me not to get caught up in comparing yourself to everyone else's weight loss because a lot of variables are at play that we may not know about. Such as height and starting weight...as well as BMI and length of time you've been over weight....for instance I've weighed over 200 lbs since the 6th grade....so my pace has been slow (comparably) but steady, but my body has been storing and holding in to this fat for 30+ years! Even when I played basketball and tennis in high school and college I was still ALWAYS a big girl no matter how hard I worked out or trained! 2 months 3 days out I'm only down 43 lbs. That's about 21 lbs a month. My goal is only 12 lbs a month to reach the 144 lbs that I want to lose within a year of surgery. So set realistic goals and you won't feel like its slow :)

By the way good job hun! You are doing great!

It seems like I'm losing about 5 pounds a week, which I am pretty satisfied with. I'm hoping to amp it up a bit because now I'm walking two and a half miles a day 4 days a week and maybe a half mile the other days. I gotta get in shape to get back to work!

The really awesome news is I tried on my work uniforms yesterday. I had been squeezing into them busting seams and popping buttons for about two years...they slipped on effortlessly! They might even be too big when I go back to work in two and a half weeks!

Super stoked!!!!

So frustrated....the scale has not changed in 2 weeks & I was losing 5-7 lbs per week & then it just stopped! I dont get it because I feel better in my clothes & people are telling me they see more & more of a difference.

Sometimes u lose inches instead of lbs. Fret not! If other people are noticing, then you're losing! :)

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
