Akc313 89 Posted April 19, 2012 Hi ALL!! I haven't yet even brought it to my doctors attention about my considering the gastric bypass surgery. So many of my family members and a free friends have had it... I haven't really spoken to anyone about getting this done since I'm kinda nervous. How long after deciding you wanted to do the surgery did it take for it to happen?
berniec 166 Posted April 19, 2012 It depends on your insurance. All of them are different. Mines was 6 months. It worked out well because it gives you time to decide if it's really what you want to do. My date is April 23rd.
tammy144 2 Posted April 19, 2012 The whole process took about 4 months starting with the referral by my pcp to the bariatric doctor. I actually started the process with the psychologist, nutritonist, etc appointments right away. I recieved the insurance approval mid way.

KimW 38 Posted April 20, 2012 I started my journey last October. Went to an informational meeting & then started my appointments. Didn't have much trouble with insurance. I was so nervous to tell my doctor about my decision but in the end she was happy for me.

Yodelania 60 Posted April 23, 2012 Well the majority of the insurance required 6mon dietician evaluation plus others Pre-ops procedures to be done as your health condition may required; PFT, EKG, Endocospy, & etc again it all depends on your health condition - good luck & welcome to the forum
